COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

One of my favourite things about my job?

Getting people together and actually DOING sustainability.

Not just talking about it.

🪱 Learning how to worm farm.
♻️ Finding practical ways to reduce waste.
🧵 Repairing and reusing.
🌱 Building everyday sustainable skills.

Community workshops create a space where people can ask questions, have a go and learn without feeling like they need to know everything already.

And there is always someone who arrives saying:

“I have a really stupid question…”

Spoiler alert.

It's almost never a stupid question. 😂

Practical. Hands-on. Local.

That's how we build knowledge and create change in our communities. 💚

No spreadsheets.
No clipboards.
No hazmat suit required. 😂

Just take 10 minutes and have a look at what's actually going into your bin.

Ask yourself:

🤔 What am I throwing away the most?
♻️ Could any of this be recycled?
🍌 Is there food waste?
🛍️ Is one type of packaging showing up again and again?

Pick ONE thing.

Then find ONE realistic way to reduce it.

That's it.

Sustainability doesn't need to start with changing your entire life overnight.

🌱 Notice it. Pick one thing. Make a change.

Try op shops, clothing swaps, preloved marketplaces or simply shopping your own wardrobe first.

And no — sustainable fashion doesn't mean wearing a beige h**p sack. 😂

And Zero Waste Solutions exists because I genuinely believe sustainability needs to be more practical.

Less perfection.
Less guilt.
Less shouting at people about everything they're doing wrong. 😂

I've spent over 20 years studying, working and volunteering in sustainability and conservation.

And the biggest thing I've learned?

People DO care.

But sometimes the problems feel too big, the information is confusing or they simply don't know where to start.

How many plastic razors have you thrown away over the years? 👀

A reusable safety razor can last for YEARS, with only the small blade needing to be replaced.

🪒 Less plastic waste
💰 Lower ongoing costs
♻️ Replace the blade, not the whole razor

Yes… they can look slightly terrifying at first. 😂

But slow down, don't apply too much pressure and let the razor do the work.

One reusable item replacing years of disposable plastic?

That's a swap I can get behind. 🙌

If you've ever watched me teach a school session, you'll know one thing pretty quickly…

I don't do hour-long lectures. 😂

We move.
We play games.
We investigate.
We ask LOTS of questions.

And occasionally we talk about worm poo. 🪱💩

My school programs are designed to take big sustainability topics and make them understandable, practical and relevant to young people.

🪱 Composting

🍎 Food waste

Because our young people don't just need to know there's a problem.

They need to understand how things work and feel empowered to be part of the solution. 🌱
