Exploring the industries that keep Tasmania moving! 🚢🌲🚛

Through the TasPorts Industry Pathway Program, Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council (TMEC) partnered with West North West Working to help participants explore local industries and career pathways.

In Devonport, participants visited the Port of Devonport, BioMar Australia, Devonport Airport and De Bruyn's transport. The Burnie tour included the Port of Burnie, Burnie Chip Export terminal and Forico.

The tours gave participants a first-hand look at how forestry, transport and port operations connect within one supply chain and the career opportunities along the way.

Combined with practical job readiness training, these experiences help participants build knowledge, confidence and connections as they take their next steps towards employment.

As the program wraps up, we’re already celebrating several success stories, and we wish the remaining participants all the best in their future employment endeavours.

We are in the final week of our Spring Loaded workshop series in Wynyard. Jacki will be hosting four workshops this week, open to anyone seeking free employment, education and training support. Drop in anytime to have a chat with Jacki.

Yesterday, the West North West Working team had the opportunity to tour the new TasTAFE taypani Learner Hub and learn more about the exciting plans for the Clean Energy Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Burnie campus.

A big thank you to Richard from Tas TAFE for showing us through the newly renovated Learner Hub and the future site of the Clean Energy CoE, which will be developed within the former library and surrounding classroom spaces.

It was wonderful to hear how the Clean Energy CoE is being designed not only as a TasTAFE training facility, but as a collaborative initiative with industry partners and stakeholders. With consultation already underway, the focus is on creating a fit-for-purpose learning environment that puts learner needs first while supporting the future workforce required for Tasmania's growing clean energy sector.

The recent construction of new student accommodation complements these developments, helping to improve access to education and training for students.
