Am I busy as f ? Yes.
Is it a lot to manage? Absolutely.
Am I incredibly grateful for this journey? Every single day.

Something I’ve learnt along the way is that comparison really is one of the biggest life traps we can fall into.

We spend so much time online, looking at little snippets of other people’s lives, businesses and successes. It’s so easy to convince ourselves that someone else is further ahead, doing better, or has it all figured out. It’s just not true at all.

I stopped looking at what other brands were doing a long time ago. Not because I don’t admire what others are building, but because I never want to lose the individuality, creativity and vision behind Sol Sista!!!

Why would I want to build something that looks like everybody else’s?

And I think that goes for life, too.

There’s so much freedom in getting comfortable with your own journey. Your own ideas. Your own version of success. Even when it looks completely different to everyone else’s.

Because the most interesting thing about you is the very thing that makes you different.

And I’d hate to spend so much time looking at what everyone else is doing that I forget to enjoy what I’m building right in front of me.

But also - mums, why are we crazy and start businesses?? LOL

One person we’ve been lucky enough to connect with over the last 12 months is the gorgeous Shannon Hayes 🌺

Shannon featured as a model in our Refresha Balm launch campaign earlier in the year AND recently worked her magic behind the camera on our latest launch campaign (which we’re yet to release!) And let us tell you, it is FREAKING phenomenal.

This girl is seriously talented.

Based on the Gold Coast, Shannon is a photographer and filmmaker who loves the outdoors, lives for the ocean and is carving out her own path doing something she genuinely loves.

We’ve loved getting to know Shannon and watching her do her thing, so naturally, we had to get her on the blog.

We chatted about her upbringing, how she found photography, the realities of working for yourself, the opportunities she’s had along the way and what she’s dreaming up next.
