Cairns Airport and Triple M Cairns have been long time advocates for sustainable practices. We are proud to work with these local organisations to improve environmental impacts through recycling programs.

Have a look behind the scenes at what happens to your container once you finish with it at the airport.

♻️Did you know this about the Cairns Airport?

- They raise close to $30,000 each year through the Containers for Change program.
- All funds raised support local charities and community gardens.
- 6,500+ wheelie bins are sorted each year.
- Save more than 250,000 coffee cups from landfill each year. That’s 20,000+ per month.

- The waste sortation room operates seven days a week. Waste is divided into seven streams - organic, refund containers, wooden cutlery, coffee cups, cardboard, co-mingled recycling, and landfill.

Thank you Cairns Airport for everything you do for the environment! We loved our BTS tour yesterday.
