e Manager Peter Muir and Auction Coordinator Sharon Rumble who alongside our dedicated warehouse and administration personnel conduct around 30 sales per year involving upwards of 25,000 individual items. Strong demand and a well-known local brand have seen our general chattel auctions become a fortnightly staple in Cairns, operating from a dedicated warehouse and showroom at 401 Sheridan Street in Cairns. Held every second Wednesday, these auctions are open to the public and can feature anywhere up to 500 individual lots with a broad range of merchandise including heavy equipment, vehicles, furniture, IT, office, furniture, catering equipment and jewellery. We sell on behalf of companies, government departments, businesses and private sellers looking to achieve the best price for their items in a fast paced and exciting environment. Regularly attracting as many as 400 bidders over the course of the day, and now over 700 bidders more recently online, we have been lucky to see familiar faces coming back for decades, as well as many new bidders each month ensuring a wide and varied purchaser base. With the impact of the COVID crisis in 2020, we have adapted our processes to continue with live traditional auction sales however, we have moved to an online platform with bidders able to log in with computers and smart devices and bid live as they hear and see our auctioneers call the sales. The process has been an overwhelming success, with well over 700 bidders regularly logging on to each sale and very positive feedback from both buyers and sellers. For those larger or more specific sales, we conduct on-site auctions for restaurants, hotels, workshops, businesses and mines, ranging from less than a hundred, to several thousand lots at a time. Mining, agricultural and industrial equipment has been a specialty, with Quaid Auctioneers featuring on most major mine closures in North Queensland over the past 25 years. Another key element of our business is plant and equipment valuations, including the valuation of chattels, motor vehicles and plant and equipment. Whether this be the creation of detailed inventories for a property sale, or a full valuation of assets, we can offer a tailored service in a timely manner. With over 30 years of experience working across Australian and Asia-Pacific, we are the first choice for auction sales in Far North Queensland.
