Our team enjoyed two productive days of personal development in the Whitsundays last week.

We started with a trip to Hamilton Island Golf Club — an unforgettable course known for its steep valleys, spectacular island views, and a few humbling challenges along the way. Congrats to Lynn & Dan for sharing the MVP award.
Friday was spent back in our Cannonvale office for a full technical development day, covering everything from software training to geotechnical design and mine updates.

A great mix of team connection, learning, and supporting each other to stay at the top of our game.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Scott Burchmore has taken home two major honours at the BBUGS Annual Suppliers Day and AGM — Geotechnical Practitioner of the Year and Presentation of the Year.

These awards recognise Scott’s long-standing contribution to the underground coal community — from developing the Haztrack strata defect and remediation platform, to presenting at national and international conferences, supporting industry events, and mentoring the next generation of geotechnical professionals.
Scott has been a consistent voice for best practice, clearer data, and safer strata management across the Bowen Basin and beyond. A well-deserved achievement for someone who continues to set the benchmark for professionalism, capability and industry engagement.

⭐Meet Noel Waipape — the newest addition to our Geotechnicoal team, who joined in March as a Graduate Mine Geologist.

Noel is currently based at Oaky North Mine in Queensland and already getting hands-on experience in the underground world: from geological mapping and inspections to borescoping, pull testing of roof bolts, fracture logging, processing of roof monitoring data and drafting of strata advices and other strata comms. He has gained familiarity across outbye, development, and longwall areas of the mine while establishing a reputation for hard work and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.

Team Building with a twist - and a bit of friendly fire.
The Geotechnicoal crew took to the bush at Skirmish Samford Paintball last week for a day of laughs, tactics, and a few well-earned bruises. Great to step away from the screens and strengthen the team with some real world strategy (and a lot of paint).
