WORK IN AUSTRALIA- Australia's work visa program changes was announced on 7 Dec 2024 and became effective with the new Skills in Demand Visa (SID) replacing the former Temporary Skills Shortage visa (TSS).

Foreign workers must have at least 1 full-time prior work experience in a nominated occupation. listed under the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL): the new work visa list released yesterday. To date, the 2 confirmed streams : Core Skills Stream and Specialist Skills stream have been announced.
1) Specialist Skills stream: Workers would need to earn at least A$135,000 per annum, and no less than an Australian equivalent worker in the same occupation, and can be from any occupation listed on ANZSCO 2022 directory except ANZSCO group levels 3,7 and 8 (namely: trades workers, machinery operators and drivers/laborers)
2) Core Skills Stream: Workers can be sponsored under any of the occupations listed under the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL).
The new work visa list was released yesterday.

Foreign workers under any of the CSOL listed occupations must earn at least the income threshold of AUD73,150/year.
They can now be eligible for a PR pathway through subclass 186 visa after 2 years of work in the occupation.
