📃 National Skills Commission has announced the Skills Priority List (SPL) provides a detailed view of occupations in shortage, nationally, and by state and territory, as well as the future demand for occupations in Australia.

📎 This Key Findings Report provides readers with a high-level overview of results from the 2022 SPL, focussing on the themes that emerged during its production.
For example, occupation shortages were most acute in Professional occupations, requiring higher level qualifications and experience, and Skill Level 3 occupations among Technicians and Trades Workers.🔥

Findings from the 2022 list show that 31% of occupations assessed are in shortage, indicated as ‘S’ (286 out of 914). The remaining 628 occupations are rated as ‘NS’ (no shortage) at a national level, although some of these occupations are in shortage in some states and territories.🧐

🖥️ The 2022 Skills Priority List is now available as a digital interface as well as a downloadable report, where you can find your occupation and learn more about the current and future demand in each state.

The links to the digital interface and report you can find on my website.🔗

⚡️ The new labour government with the new prime minister, presented new budget amendments aimed to stabilize and recover Australian economy, to reduce government expenses and bring more benefits for citizens and potential citizens (migrants) of Australia. ⚡️

🤓Among the updates announced by Treasurer Jim Chalmers, I have met the amazing news about the number of places for skilled and family visas increased from 160,000 to 195,000 in 2022-2023 financial year’s migration program. 🪄🥳🎉

☝️ First, it will be easier for businesses faced labour force shortage to cover it because the quota for skilled visas has grown from 79,600 to 142,400.🔥

✌️ Secondly, the number of partner and child visas granted still doesn’t have a sealing and are determined driven with indicative planning levels only.

🤟Thirdly, government is planning to grant almost 2 times more visas for parents of Australians in the current financial year rather than in 2021-2022.
💥 It is going to be 8,500 visas instead of 6,000 visas announced earlier for 2022-2023 program year!

☝🏼 The Department has announced that temporary visa applicants in Australia will not be required to undertake medical examinations and chest x-rays.

📎Whether you need them, and what examinations you need, depends on:

▫️The visa you are applying for;
▫️How long do you plan to stay in Australia;
▫️What you plan to do in Australia;
▫️The country you apply from;
▫️Any special circumstances that might apply to you;
▫️Whether you have any significant medical conditions.

🖋 This arrangement applies to applicants for the following visa subclasses, and only if you are already in Australia:
401, 403, 405, 407, 408, 410, 417, 462, 461, 476, 482, 485, 500, 590, 600, 870, 995

⚠️ However, temporary visa applicants in Australia will still be required to undertake relevant medical examinations and/or chest x-rays if they:

• Have applied for a medical treatment, temporary protection or a provisional visa;
• Expect to incur medical costs or require medical treatment;
• Are intending to work as (or study to be) a doctor, dentist, nurse or paramedic;
• Will enter a hospital, aged or disability care facility (if higher tuberculosis risk);
• Are pregnant and intending to have the baby in Australia;
• Will work or train at an Australian childcare centre;
• Are aged over 75 years (if applying for a visitor visa);
• Have had previous household contact with tuberculosis;
• They are requested to do so by the Department.

✔️ If you have already booked a medical examination but have not yet attended, your appointment may be cancelled, and you will be refunded. If you are not advised that your appointment has been cancelled, you should attend if possible.

This is a temporary measure and applies to all eligible temporary visa applications currently with the Department and new applications made in Australia.

🔍 The Government will review these arrangements in early 2023.
