Let’s get one thing straight – I’m not here to sell you anything. Shocking, I know! It’s rare, but sometimes people post on social media for reasons other than getting clients. 😱

I’ve built my entire business without a website and with minimal social presence. So why the flip? It’s all about impact and you can’t have an impact without a platform. I want to give back, share valuable insights, and make a bigger difference in the business world, so I need to come out of hiding! 🙈

But… there won’t be any lead magnets, sales pitches or “sell by chat” tactics here!

Right now, my dance card is full, and I’m not in a client acquisition phase. I’m fortunate enough to have amazing coaching and advisory clients keeping me busy. My group programs are getting a massive overhaul so the doors are closed, we’re in the process of rebranding and relaunching (if you didn’t know I’m pretty passionate about the under representation of women in business - less than 2% hit $1M in revenue, so I’m on a mission to change that) and our marketing agency is at capacity.

You’re living inside your comfort zone even though you know deep down that your greatest growth happens outside of your comfort zone.

It’s a common challenge…

Sometimes it’s a mindset issue and we’re unconsciously making it harder for ourselves because it can’t be that easy to succeed.

Sometimes it’s because we try to do things like we’re a bigger business than we actually are.

Sometimes we just haven’t stepped back and asked ourselves “is there an easier way to do this?”.

Whatever the reason, I want you to make this your new mantra!

3️⃣ Finally this leads us to how can I turn viewers into buyers? 💰

Based on my research those with accounts focusing on entertainment, dance, pranks, beauty etc. are monetising by becoming influencers.

Very few businesses have been able to quantify sales directly coming from TikTok. It may be another touch point for consumers but it’s hard to fully attribute sales.

You can get creative - There’s a well known social media expert (who I like and respect) who has leaned right into TikTok, but she is not actually selling a lot through TikTok. She has grown a huge TikTok following by primarily posting stuff unrelated to her business (mum life, body image, general inspiration) purely to get followers and engagement. From this though she is now able to sell a “how to grow on TikTok” course because she has built her authority on that platform. She has leveraged the platform to her benefit (although now other businesses are following her guidance and wondering why they’re not making money by following the steps.)

🛑 You need a clear path to make money, not get vanity metrics 🛑

👍 So is TikTok right for you? Well it’s up to you!

What I would say though is like any platform it takes work to get engagement and not all engagement is created equally, it’s better to have a small following of your ideal clients on one platform than a large following of people who are never going to buy on many platforms.

2️⃣ Next let’s look at if you have the bandwidth to go all in on a new platform? 😬

I’ll be honest, those who are growing fast on TikTok are those who are hustling hard on it. The same as those who grew fast on Periscope, Instagram etc.

They are spending time (or paying someone to spend the time) researching topics that people are searching for, identifying trends, searching for trending audio etc. and then posting multiple times a day (3-5 times per day when you’re getting started).

The question for you is, if you spend that amount of time and energy (or pay someone to do it for you) on TikTok are you going to get a return on investment? What else could you do instead with that time or money and is it likely to get you more sales than TikTok? 🤷🏻‍♀️

What are their demographics? Age, gender, occupation etc.

TikTok is female skewed, with over 60% of users worldwide identifying as female.

Have you been wondering if you should be over on ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s all the hype right now, so it’s no surprise that I am getting asked by clients on a daily basis “should I be on TikTok?”

Annoyingly there’s no straight yes or no answer 🤦🏻‍♀️, but here’s some thoughts for you to consider…

TikTok is a relatively new platform and is on a super fast growth trajectory (it’s growing at double the pace of and ) so there’s always the opportunity to ride that growth train. 🚆

But…

Followers and likes are meaningless unless they lead to sales and are a good return on investment of your time. ⏰

To gut check that, the key 3 questions you need to ask yourself before you jump on that train are:

1️⃣ Where do my ideal clients spend their time?
2️⃣ Do I have the bandwidth to go all in on a new platform?
3️⃣ How can I turn viewers into buyers?

If your clients spend their time on TikTok, you have a lot of free time to go all in and if you have a great strategy to turn viewers into buyers the answer is yes.

US Bound 🇺🇸

A day later, a different departure port, a different US arrival port and an extra US stop (thanks for cancelling our flight at the last minute), but we’re on our way 🙌.

Only 3 flights and 25 hours to go until we get to Boston baby! 🏃🏼‍♂️🏅

So grateful for the freedom and flexibility that our business brings 💕.

Morning musings on my walk… (anyone else’s brain go into super drive when they’re supposed to be on a peaceful walk? 🤯).

7️⃣ - the number of times this week I have been asked if I would do a one off 1:1 strategy session.

6️⃣ - the number of people who are not paid clients who have reached out to me this week to thank me for transforming their business.

5️⃣ - the number of years ago I stopped doing one off 1:1 coaching.

4️⃣ - the number of months I have done no sales and marketing in my business (not recommended, I had a few health challenges so decided to focus on myself and my existing clients - thank goodness for recurring revenue and a strong referral base).

3️⃣ - the minimum number of months I genuinely believe you need to work with a coach to implement strategies to sustainably scale your business.

2️⃣ - the number of years ago I cut back on 1:1 and DFY clients to focus on my leveraged programs (I now only work with a tiny number of long term clients in a 1:1 capacity and rarely take on new clients).

1️⃣ - the number of hours I spent on a coaching call with client this week which she turned into $30k within 3 days by making 3 tiny tweaks in her business that we discussed in that call.

So all this has me wondering… 🤔

Should I do something crazy and open up my calendar for one off 1:1 strategy sessions for the next 2 weeks as an experiment?

The things people have reached out and asked for my help with are:
- sales page review and feedback
- small strategies to bring in some quick cash
- review on team (right people)
- launch strategy review
- organic social media strategy
- my ads are costing too much what should I do?
- email nurture sequence
- flipping their membership to evergreen
- copywriting
- how to set up collabs to grow your audience

I’m pretty sure if some of my mentors see this they will have a heart attack 😬, but I don’t always play by the “rules”.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Should I do it or is this crazy? 🙏

P.S. this isn’t a “I’m thinking about…” where I already have a plan behind the scenes. This is a genuine “help me decide if this is too crazy” before I spend my weekend creating an offer, setting up my calendar etc.

Who is guilty of helping too many people too much? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I remember when I launched my first course I literally said “this will work for anyone” 🙈

I ended up with 330 men and women aged between 18 & 85 from all walks of life.

They all loved it and it did work, but man was it hard to write copy and target with ads… 🤦🏻‍♀️

That’s when I realised, just because I could help everyone doesn’t mean I should help everyone.

I continued to niche and specialise until I found the sweet spot where I could have the greatest impact and work with the people who brought me the biggest joy.

But shhhhh… here’s a secret! 🤫 I still waiver sometimes. I recently created an Instagram Reels course even though if I stepped back to think about it it wasn’t aligned with my ideal customer, nor my specialisation.
