Pain that never felt safe enough to process — rejection, shame, abandonment, not feeling chosen, not feeling good enough — gets stored in the body.
And subconsciously, you build an entire identity around protecting yourself from ever having to feel those emotions again.
So you micromanage.
Grip life tightly.
Try to predict outcomes before they happen.
Control how you’re perceived.
Control how things unfold.
Control the future.
You create routines that feel “safe.”
You stay inside what’s familiar.
There’s no room for spontaneity.
No room for surprise.
No room for the infinite.
Because control feels safer than the unknown.
But control is still self-protection.
That’s your nervous system doing its job.
That’s the edge. And it’s where you get to expand from.
My favourite part.
Because when your nervous system no longer sees uncertainty as danger.. life opens.
And suddenly there’s room for more.
More love.
More money.
More opportunities.
More synchronicities.
More life.
You stop trying to force life through the tiny opening your nervous system decided was “safe”..
and suddenly the whole fu***ng room opens.
