Update: I closed my Gold Coast Community Funerals Google account, they also closed my email account and it is virtually impossible to retrieve it. This is a common problem, I found a page with comments from disgruntled unsubscribed account holders, I totally agree with the language they used!

Gold Coast Community Funerals, after much thought and consideration, has ceased business, I am going to retire. On this day in 1979, I entered the office of W. N. Bull Pty Ltd, Funeral Directors, in Newtown, Sydney, and now, 42 years later, I have decided to hang up my hat.
I will retain the phone number for any enquiries about Funerals we have conducted, and offer advice where I can. Thankyou to Chris Schaepman, together we proved the business model worked, a local with a hearse, a black suit and a laptop, delivering quality funerals at an affordable price to the local community. Thankyou to Tim and Casey at Home Mortuary Support, we couldn't have survived without their help and dedication, and Ashton Manufacturing for their high quality coffins and hardware.

With Derek and Denise Merrin's permission: I recently did an unattended cremation for the late George William David Merrin and I delivered George's ashes to Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Labrador, for his Memorial Service. George lived for and loved the game of soccer so much, he founded the Wickford Town Youth Football Club, he then went to Saudi Arabia and later emigrated to Cairns, running the Far North Queensland Soccer Association organising representative tours to Europe and the UK, and culminating in Far North Queensland winning the Queensland State Premiership. His ashes were covered with his club colours and a camel was placed at the front to symbolise his ties to Saudi Arabia. A life lived with passion for his sport and a great sense of humour. With Jennifer's and Brendan's permission to post, we recently conducted the funeral of their son Riordan. Rio had brain cancer and with maturity beyond his years, he donated his corneas and over 170 vials of living cancer cells from primary and secondary tumours, for research around Australia and around the world. What an honourable legacy Rio has left us.
Rio was a member of the Liverpool Football Club, he went in his Liverpool soccer gear, and was wheeled from the Southport Church of Christ by family and friends to "You will never walk alone."

I recently conducted the funeral of 93 year old Thora Anderson, a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We played a few photo presentations set to Thora's favourite Charley Pride songs and during one set, two of her great grandchildren, who are cousins, spontaneously danced in the aisle. Music bringing the generations together.

I recently did a funeral for a girl who fought cancer for many years, never complaining, and tried to live life to the fullest. Her Father is a retired radiation therapist, we talked a lot about radiation therapy and my thirty three rounds with the after affects. I said that my "Me Time" was riding motorcycles, I don't have aches or pain when I am on a motorcycle, I am 21 again! The girl's Father was interested to see my motorcycle, so I delivered the finalised funeral invoice to him this morning on the Thruxton, he took this photo. Thankyou Fam, it was an honour to assist you and Doris with Elisa's farewell.
