Gold was discovered at Tooloom Creek in 1857.
In 1890 John Payne and his son Jack were prospecting through Drake following the gullys and creeks. They arrived at Tooloom and Jack decided to descend into the old mine shaft called Kenny Maclean Show, he resurfaced with a hatful of gold specimens. They reclaimed the shaft as Rise and Shine, within the first week had recovered 105 ounces of gold. In six weeks they secured 600 ounces. The hut pictured was a bank and supply station for the prospectors who would camp the night in a creeked area 40 metres away. Location ? Sorry Guys ........

On a recent visit to the coast to see friends and to enjoy a relaxing beach sunset, Lee was left temporarily stranded after they discovered they had lost their car keys. They called Gold Coast Metal Detecting asking for assistance. Initially the search failed to locate the keys in the specified area. However with an extension parameter of 10 metres in both directions we found our target.
