Stop comparing.
Do your thing.
Pop your own kernel.

It’s easy to fall into a negative mind spiral of:
🤔 why do they have more followers?
🥺 why do they seem to sell more?
😩 why are they getting all the opportunities?

And this leads to the dark thought of:
😬 are they just better than me?

Possibly.

Probably not.

You don’t know their backstory, their financial situation, their friendships, their struggle.

(And let’s be honest you also don’t know if their great success are true ).

You don’t know what their success is costing them.

From my experience, talking to oodles of ‘successful’ humans,

The success has come at a cost.

Is it a cost you want to pay?

My advice :

😍 look inward not outward.
😍 Look to your customers for ideas not your competitors.
😍 Stick to your path.
😍 Do the work.
😍 Turn up.
🦧 Be you.
👊 Understand it takes time.
🤩 Manage your expectations.

Phil Knight is a great storyteller, but this book is about so much more than just storytelling. Phil gives you a real insight in to what it takes to build an empire, one that will last. What Phil Knight and his team went through to achieve success is quite remarkable and I have full respect for team Nike, for their guts and determination. Today it seems to me to be all about the quick fix, the fast route to success, but I’d rather take a slower route and build a sustainable business with a solid foundation than to follow a route that comes to a dead end. Although I am a runner and a business owner you don’t need to be either to enjoy this powerful read 🙌🏻.
