Real talk.
Tomorrow is a big day for Goldcoast Insider.

I’m not going to lie, the self doubt has been loud lately. Who am I to think I could build “Locals We Love” into something real, something that actually gives back to our community.

Some days it’s quiet & some days it’s right there in my ear while I’m practicing my photography and planning out each local legend, thinking about how we can honour their story.

But you know what? I can, and I will.
When I moved house recently, I came across boxes of old photos, letters, and keepsakes I’d almost forgotten about.

Going through them, it hit me, both my grandfather and my mum & dad both spent their lives quietly giving back, volunteering for the communities m around them without ever needing recognition for it.

Maybe this was always going to find its way to me eventually.

So today, I’m choosing to let the excitement be louder than the doubt. Because the truth is, I’ve been blown away by the response. 57k people have watched my video, and I’ve had so many beautiful humans follow along and DM me with ideas and suggestions.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
That alone has quieted the doubt more than I expected.

The most exciting part isn’t even the numbers though. It’s the momentum.

When you’re doing something that lights you up, it just… flows.

Tomorrow I’ve got my amazing, supportive friend on video + my camera battery is all charged (almost forgot last night 😆), and we’re about to introduce you to our very first “Locals We Love” — a seriously talented human offering something special to the Goldie community.

I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride 📷

Just me… grinning from ear to earn (literally 😁).

What a week! Almost 4,000 beautiful people took the time to watch, share and comment on an idea that’s been brewing for a while, and 300 new subscribers came on board through my event photography work this week too.

LOCALS WE L❤️VE was born out of my passion for photography and finding the smaller details, stories and joy in everyday life.

But more than that, it’s about community — supporting each other and connecting others after what had felt like a pretty heavy news cycle in the first 6 months of this year.

After 20+ years working in BD and partnerships in the tourism space, I wanted to find a way to stay connected to my local community while working remotely from home. Some days it’s just me, my kids, a very whiny cat and a screen full of Zoom and Teams meetings.

To know there are locals on the GC who want to be involved, share their stories, or recommend others it has brought my little clan at home a real sense of pride.

It’s confirmed what I already knew, we live in an awesome city, full of amazing humans.

Thank you to everyone who’s watched, shared, commented, and subscribed. It means more than you know. 🙏

Growing up in Melbourne in the 90s, I had a serious thrifting phase- that I am not ashamed to admit 😎
Spice Girl shoes and flared cords were high on the agenda and I think I remember some very oversized men’s trousers PhoebeRollestonArt !?

These days it’s my daughter, Clementine putting me onto Cherry Pickers Market, and honestly….
she was not wrong.

I still get so excited when hotels think outside the square and create seriously cool stuff for their guests 🙌

W Brisbane have quietly opened their Listening Lounge and honestly it feels like a secret worth keeping, but here we are ☺️

It’s a private vinyl bar 🎵
Just your group, a record player, 100 vinyls to flip through, and a ‘press for martini’ button on the wall. Yes, really. Brisbane’s first, and once you’ve used it you’ll wonder why every hotel room doesn’t have one.

W Hotel Music Curator Adam (yes that’s a thing!?) sets the vibe for the night based on a mood you choose before you arrive. We’re talking vintage glamour, late night jazz, soft rock nostalgia… or you just dig through the crates yourself and put on whatever feels right.

The martini menu is doing all of the things.
Sound of Salt is a Japanese inspired situation with miso infused Belvedere and seaweed, far better than it sounds. Sound of Violet changes colour in front of you which is very extra but we loved it.

The wagyu truffle sausage rolls alone are reason enough to book and if you get time pop upstairs to LEX on level 3 for river front views + the most sublime scallops and a full À la carte dinner menu.

PSA- Your phone goes in a lockbox for the whole experience. We were sceptical & we were wrong.

There’s something about actually being in the room — no screens, just the music, the drinks, the people you came with.

Can’t wait to go back 🙌

Meet my new third child 📷
She has 500 settings and I understand maybe three of them at this point! But we’re figuring it out together over cosy mornings ’s brand new winter menu and I have booked myself in for some photography lessons next week 😎🤍 PS. The crumpets with caramelised banana are genuinely to die for and I feel like that PSA needed to be shared ❤️
