The $73 million Shepparton Law Courts, which opened in March 2018, was delivered with extensive stakeholder consultation, engagement and PR that ensured support from the local Shepparton community.

What is in a logo? So much is in a logo and a brand because it is the face of the business to the world. It shows who a company is and what they stand for. It’s much more than just font selection. It’s a diligent process that identifies the many Ps of marketing (price, positioning, packaging etc) to define the product in order to create a visual identity that conveys it to customers.

Burberry, under the creative helm of Riccardo Tisci, is going for a brand refresh to modernise the classic brand. Perhaps Tisci is looking for stronger resonance with millennials by using a more contemporary brand identity that they would find ‘cool’.

The social media sentiment has been rather negative “The typeface for the original logo gave the impression of timelessness and I always associated it with style and class. Now it just looks cheap.”

Personally, I liked the old brand as it gave it authenticity and class, and was quintessentially British. It had a lot of brand equity for me. The new logo is too simple and not engaging. I mourn the loss of a brand that I value.

But the thing with marketing is that you can never make everyone happy. So know what your product stands for, and who you’re targeting, and create a brand that connects with them.
