Kaizen is a productivity philosophy (developed in America / adopted and named in Japan) that focuses on deliberate, continuous improvement. The Kaizen philosophy was most famously adopted by Toyota after WW2 when they developed "The Toyota System" - The Toyota System is a system of continuous improvement in quality, technology, processes, company culture, productivity, safety and leadership. These continual small improvements (Kaizen) add up to major benefits. While Kaizen was first developed as a way to help businesses improve and thrive, it's just as applicable in many other areas. A popular concept taken from Kaizen is "be 1% better everyday" - this can be applied anywhere - in your personal life, at work, playing a sport etc..Instead of trying to make radical changes in a short amount of time, just make small improvements every day that will gradually lead to the change you want. Each day, just focus on getting 1% better at whatever it is you’re trying to improve - you will be astounded by the big results from these small gradual improvements over time.
