SUPPORT IS MORE THAN HOURS ⏱️

Two hours of support can look completely different from one person to another.

Frequency is how often support is provided. Intensity is the level of assistance needed during that time - and understanding the difference matters.

For one person, two hours might mean a worker providing guidance while they cook. For another, those same two hours could involve continuous hands-on assistance, close supervision, and more complex support needs.

Same hours. Very different levels of support 💙

At ACS, we look beyond the hours on a plan to understand what support actually looks like in everyday life. Because effective support should reflect the person, their needs, and their goals 🤝

💬 If your current support doesn’t feel like it matches what you actually need, let’s talk.

BEHIND EVERYDAY ACTIVITIES

🛒 On the surface, a support worker takes someone to the shops for an hour. Simple task, done.

What's actually happening if the worker is any good: planning what's needed, budgeting the fortnight, reading labels, deciding between options, communicating with the cashier, managing the noise and lighting, handling money, getting home with everything intact.

That's not one skill. That's twelve skills, practised in real conditions.

The difference between a good support hour and a wasted one is whether the worker sees this. At ACS we train our team to see it - quietly, without ever making anyone feel they're being taught 🏠

HOW ACS SUPPORTS YOU FROM DAY ONE

Good support starts with understanding the person. Here’s what working with ACS actually looks like:

💬 01 - We start with a real conversation about your life about what’s happening, what’s working, and what isn’t with no paperwork and no sales pitch.
🤝 02 - We meet before we match. We take the time to see whether the connection feels right.
🗓️ 03 — We learn your rhythm: your routines, your preferences, this is where personalised support really begins.
🧩 04 — We match the person, personality, communication style, interests, experience and compatibility all matter.
👋 05 — We keep checking in and listen to what’s changing, make sure the support still works for you.

At ACS, our process is simple: Listen → Understand → Meet → Match → Support → Check in.

Ready to have the first conversation? Message ACS today. 💙

FOUR IN 10 NDIS PLAN REVIEWS NOW RESULT IN FUNDING CUTS

NDIS funding cuts are becoming more common and the latest numbers show just how significant the shift has been.

📊 40% of participants who had a plan reassessment in the first three months of 2026 had their funding reduced.
👥 Around 18,000 participants were affected in just the first three months of the year.
📉 Between January 2025 and March 2026, 79,023 people received funding cuts.

This is happening as the Australian Government moves to bring down the cost of the NDIS.

🎯 The Government aims to reduce annual NDIS growth from 10% → 2% over the next four years.
💰 The reform package aims to reduce NDIS costs by $37.8 billion.
👥 By mid-2031, the Government aims to move around 240,000 people off the NDIS.

Behind every number is a person whose access to support can affect their independence, safety and everyday life. As NDIS reforms continue, plan reassessments matter more than ever.

If your funding changes, make sure you understand what has changed, why it has changed, and whether your current supports still reflect your needs and goals. At ACS, we help participants navigate NDIS changes with a person-centred approach.

🚨 NDIS INTEGRITY CRACKDOWN: FIRST LIFETIME BANS HANDED DOWN

Australia’s disability watchdog has just handed down its first lifetime bans – and they’re aimed squarely at the people who were supposed to guard the gate ⚠️

Former NDIS consultant Zeinab Ghamraoui (H&M Consulting Group) and NDIS auditor Sanyog Desai were permanently banned in June 2026 after an investigation found they were linked to attempts to register more than 200 NDIS providers improperly.

📉 The fallout so far:
- 40 provider registrations revoked
- 195 registration applications refused
- New laws now let the regulator target consultants and auditors, not just providers and workers

This is the first use of lifetime banning powers under the NDIS Commission’s expanded integrity laws. In the latest quarter alone, the Commission issued 111 banning orders and revoked 453 provider registrations – the toughest enforcement phase in the scheme’s history.

Therefore, choosing the right NDIS provider matters.

Looking for a trusted, NDIS Registered Provider? Talk to ACS. We're here to provide reliable, person-centred support with integrity at the heart of what we do 💙

RED FLAGS OF A BAD NDIS PROVIDER 🚩

Choosing an NDIS provider is about finding a team that understands you, your goals, and the support you actually need.

Here are three warning signs to watch for:

🚩 They rush your onboarding: Workers are rostered before anyone has properly asked what you need, what matters to you, or how you want your support delivered.

🚩 They promise funding: No provider can guarantee what the NDIA will approve. Anyone who claims otherwise is setting you up for disappointment.

🚩 They lead with services, not with you: “We offer 24/7 support” is a pitch, “Tell me about your goals, your routine, and where you need support” is a starting point.

At ACS, we’re a registered NDIS Provider committed to doing support the right way. Across our services, we take a person-centred approach and take the time to understand you, your goals, and the support you actually need.

Not sure about your current provider? Message us for an honest second opinion.

THE ACS TEAM, BUILT FOR CHANGE

Most providers scramble when the NDIS changes rules. We built ACS to be ready before it happens.

At ACS, we build our team around people who are willing to learn, adapt, and keep improving, because working in the NDIS means there is always something new to understand.

Our team receives ongoing training in NDIS compliance, policy updates, person-centred support, and goal-linked planning, so when changes happen, we're ready to put them into practice.

We don't just read the new policy. We understand what it means. We adapt our processes. And we make sure our team is ready to deliver support accordingly.

Because change should mean having a team that is prepared, responsive, and ready to adapt.

🌱 THRIVING KIDS: WHAT NDIS FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW

If your child is aged 8 or under and currently receives NDIS support, the upcoming Thriving Kids changes may affect your family.

From 1 October 2026, Thriving Kids will begin rolling out for children with developmental delay and/or autism who have low-to-moderate support needs. The program will provide support through community and mainstream services, including schools and other local settings.

From 1 January 2028, changes to NDIS access will begin for children with low-to-moderate support needs. However, not every child with autism or developmental delay will leave the NDIS. Children with permanent and significant disabilities and substantially reduced functional capacity can continue to access the NDIS if they meet the eligibility requirements.

If your child is already an NDIS participant, they will not be automatically removed. Their circumstances will be considered through the reassessment process.

For families, now is a good time to understand your child’s current supports, keep relevant reports and information about their needs, and stay informed about the changes.

🌟 HOW WE LINK SOCIAL SUPPORT TO YOUR NDIS GOALS

A fun day out is great, but with the NDIS, every Community Access activity should also support your goals. 💙

📍NDIS reviewers are paying closer attention to how Community Access builds independence and capacity. Simple outings like going to a café or the shops are valuable, but they should have a clear purpose behind them.

🤝 At ACS, we plan every outing with meaningful goals in mind, whether it's practising public transport, building communication skills, increasing confidence in the community, or developing daily living skills. It still feels like an enjoyable day out but every activity supports your NDIS goals and future plan reviews.

✨ If you're unsure whether your Community Access supports are meeting NDIS expectations, we're here to help you plan with confidence.
