POSTION VACANT - Plumber / Pipefitter – CHPP | Bowen Basin Coal Mine
Location: Bowen Basin, QLD
Roster: 4 days on / 3 days off (Monday to Thursday)
Enjoy every Friday, Saturday and Sunday off
$150k - $160k+ per annum
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Plumber or Pipefitter to work on a coal mine site in the Bowen Basin, supporting both maintenance and new pipe installations within a Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP).
This role is suited to a trade-qualified professional with strong experience in HDPE pipe welding, threaded galvanised and stainless steel pipe, and fire systems, who is comfortable working in an operational mining environment and takes pride in quality workmanship and safe work practices.
Key responsibilities
Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on pipework systems within the CHPP
Install new pipework for plant upgrades, modifications, and capital works
Perform HDPE pipe welding, fabrication, and repairs
Install and maintain threaded galvanised and stainless steel pipe systems
Work on fire systems, fire water pipework, and spray systems
Read and interpret drawings, isometrics, and scopes of work
Identify faults, diagnose issues, and carry out effective repairs
Work safely under mine site permit systems and procedures
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and job documentation
Liaise with supervisors, planners, and other trades to ensure efficient job ex*****on
Comply with all WHS, site safety, and environmental requirements
Skills, experience & qualifications
Essential:
Trade qualification as a Plumber or Pipefitter
Demonstrated experience in HDPE pipe welding
Strong experience with threaded galvanised and stainless steel pipe
Experience working on fire systems and spray systems
Previous experience working on a coal mine site or within a CHPP (highly regarded)
Strong safety awareness and understanding of mine site work practices
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Tickets & requirements (essential or ability to obtain):
Coal Board Medical
Standard mine site inductions (SSE, site-specific inductions)
Current driver’s licence
Ability to pass ongoing drug and alcohol testing
