Great advice from a trusted source

Scareware is on the rise. Innocently browsing when suddenly a pop up like the one shown suddenly appears. If you have the sound on you'll hear bells and sounds that make you take notice. Had a customer today that this happened to. You can't get rid of the screen. The warnings will say don't shutdown. This is total scam. Customer forced the laptop off by holding down the power button until the screen went black. Turned it back on again, got to the login screen, put their PIN in and then it went to a black screen with only a cursor showing. I managed to get the system back. The scareware had affected the program that runs the graphical user interface (GUI) which is your desktop pictures etc. Totally fake. Their intent is to take you financially to the cleaners. URGENT: Major Nationwide Telstra Network OutageWhat is happening?A major technical failure has impacted Telstra’s mobile network nationwide.

This disruption is affecting millions of users, including customers of providers that utilise Telstra infrastructure (such as Belong, Boost, ALDI Mobile, and Tangerine).

Current ImpactsConnectivity: Mobile calls and data services are failing. Many users are seeing "No Service" or "SOS Only" status.

Transport: All V/Line regional train services in Victoria are suspended due to radio network failure. Passengers are advised to defer travel.Business:

EFTPOS transactions and delivery networks relying on Telstra SIMs are facing significant delays.Emergency Services: While handsets are designed to roam onto other networks for Triple Zero (000) calls, service may be intermittent.

What you can do right now:

Restart your device: Telstra recommends a full power cycle as a potential temporary fix.

Use Wi-Fi Calling: If you have a working home or office internet connection (that is not a Telstra mobile hotspot), ensure Wi-Fi Calling is enabled in your phone settings to make calls.

Switch to messaging apps: Use WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger, or Signal over your Wi-Fi network to stay in touch.

Emergency access: If you cannot reach 000 on your mobile and have no landline, please reach out to a neighbour or family member who uses a different network provider.

Status: Telstra has acknowledged the issue and is currently investigating. Updates will be provided as they become available.
