Council’s Social Investment Partnerships grant program is currently open for applications. This program offers funding of up to $25,000 to support community organisations to fund programs and services that deliver meaningful social impact.
Organisations can apply for funding for projects that address social issues including:

• Food insecurity
• Community safety
• Physical and mental wellbeing
• Pathways to employment

To apply, eligible organisations need to complete an Expression of Interest that outlines how they plan to use the funding and provide supporting documentation by Wednesday 30 September. If an employee misses a meal break, taking it at another time isn’t always the only outcome. Some awards and enterprise agreements provide extra payment (e.g. penalty rates) when employees miss out on their meal break.

For example, under the Restaurant Award, an employee needs to be paid an extra
50% of their ordinary hourly rate until they take their break (or finish their
shift) if they can’t take their meal break at its scheduled time or work more than 6 hours (or 6.5 hours if agreed) if one wasn’t scheduled.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has recently released guidance for businesses to assist in minimising pollution and waste risks in a changing climate.

The guidance provides support in identifying physical climate risks, and how these may in turn affect your business and cause increased pollution or waste to occur.
Examples of climate risks and their affects include:

Dry periods could increase dust emissions from your facility, increasing the risk of harm to people and surface waters nearby

Storm events could increase the risk of contaminated stormwater runoff, leading to pollution of nearby surface waters and land

Whether your business carries out medium to high-risk activities (whether permitted by the EPA or not) or low risk activities, the guidance will assist you to assess and take action in relation to climate change and risks.

10,000 Gigs is a Victorian Government funding program that funds venues to provide musicians with paid performance opportunities.

Eligible businesses can apply for funding of up to $11,000 to deliver live music in their venue.
