🚒 Thank You for Supporting Meredith Fire Brigade 🚒

The members of Meredith Fire Brigade would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mortimer Petroleum for their generous donation towards the purchase of a new side monitor for Meredith Tanker 2.

This equipment will enhance our operational capabilities, allowing us to deliver high-volume water streams more effectively during firefighting and training activities, while also improving firefighter safety.

We would also like to acknowledge Meredith Roadhouse, whose Easter Raffle played a significant role in raising funds towards this project. The support shown by the Roadhouse, local businesses, and everyone who purchased raffle tickets demonstrates the incredible community spirit that makes projects like this possible.

As a volunteer brigade, community support is vital in helping us maintain and improve the equipment we rely on to protect our community.

Thank you to everyone involved for helping us continue to serve Meredith and the surrounding district.

The planned burn for Byrne Rd, Meredith has commenced today.

You may see or smell smoke in the area over the next couple of days as a result.

We’re currently doing planned burning to keep Victoria safer from bushfires.

📍Lethbridge – Boonderoo (185 hectares)
📍Meredith – Byrne Road (66 hectares)
📍Beaufort – Barton Track (160 hectares)
📍Halls Gap – heap burns (1 hectare)
📍Dunkeld – Cooks Road (216 hectares)
📍Grampians National Park – Mount Zero Road (130 hectares)

Without planned burning and other fuel management works, bushfires will be bigger and harder for our firefighters to control.

There will be a planned burn in Meredith over the coming days. You may see or smell smoke in the area.

If weather and forest conditions are suitable, firefighters from the Midlands District will ignite the Meredith – Byrne Road planned burn on Monday 20 April.

The 66 hectares burn is being undertaken to reduce risk of bushfire to Meredith and surrounding communities.

The burn will be ignited over one day. FFMVic crews will continue to patrol and monitor in the days following.

🚧There will be traffic management controllers and speed restrictions in place along the Meredith-Steiglitz Road.

This Watch and Act message is being issued for Cressy, Shelford, Bannockburn, Meredith, Buninyong, Ballan and Bacchus Marsh.
- The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.
- Intense rainfall within the warning area may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours.

Prepare to take shelter and be aware of potential hazards caused by the severe weather. Hazards include floodwater, debris and trees down.
