What’s shaping project delivery and business transformation across New Zealand in 2026?
Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen a consistent theme across the public sector: many organisations are still working to mature their delivery governance and improve visibility across projects, programmes, and portfolios.
While capability is improving, the focus remains on getting the fundamentals right, aligning investment to strategy, improving decision-making, and strengthening confidence in how delivery performance is measured and understood.
Some of the key trends we’re observing include:
• A growing focus on delivery maturity, governance, and strategic alignment
• Continued interest in P3M3® assessments, PMO reviews, and capability uplift initiatives
• Increased use of flexible delivery models such as BAaaS and PDaaS
• Rising demand for Business Intelligence and data specialists
• Ongoing exploration of AI and automation, alongside stronger governance and responsible adoption
Across these areas, the common thread is visibility and consistency, ensuring organisations can better understand performance and make informed decisions.
As the public sector continues to navigate change, demand for strong delivery, governance, data, and transformation capability is expected to remain a key focus through 2026.
