๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐ŸŽ“ UK Universities Review International Student Offers Amid Tougher Visa Rules

International students from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries are facing uncertainty as some UK universities withdraw admission offers or visa sponsorships following stricter immigration compliance requirements.

๐Ÿ“Š Student Visa Application Withdrawal Rates (First Half of 2026):

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ Pakistan: 40.9%
๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฉ Bangladesh: 23.5%
๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India: 5.2%
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Overall UK rate: 10.5%

โš ๏ธ Important: These figures represent withdrawn visa applications, NOT visa refusal rates.

Under the new rules introduced in June 2026, universities must maintain:

โœ… Visa refusal rates below 5%
โœ… Student enrolment rates of at least 95%

Some universities are reassessing international recruitment to comply with these requirements.

๐Ÿ“Œ What Students Should Know:

There is no UK-wide ban on students from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh. However, receiving an admission offer does not guarantee visa sponsorship or approval.

Students are encouraged to confirm their university's sponsorship requirements and stay informed about visa regulations.

๐ŸŒ Planning to study overseas? Stay informed and understand your options before making important decisions.

๐Ÿšจ MAJOR AUSTRALIAN STUDENT VISA UPDATE ๐Ÿšจ
Changes to Student Visa Dependants Effective 2 October

Australiaโ€™s Department of Home Affairs has introduced significant changes affecting secondary applicants (dependants) under the Student Visa (Subclass 500).

๐Ÿ“Œ From 2 October, new international student visa applicants will generally no longer be able to include or bring their spouse/partner or children as secondary applicants, subject to specific exceptions under the new arrangements.

This change is particularly important for international students planning to study in Australia with their families and should be carefully considered when preparing a student visa application.

๐Ÿšจ Australian Colleges Warned: โ€œDo Not Try to Gameโ€ Student Visa Rules

Private colleges have issued nearly 3,000 last-minute enrolments into a Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) course that is being cancelled from 5 October 2026.

According to the regulator, since the ban was announced on 4 September:
๐Ÿ“Œ 1,300+ new enrolments were issued
๐Ÿ“Œ 1,500+ future enrolments were brought forward

Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill has warned education providers and agents against attempts to circumvent the new rules.

Authorities are closely examining unusual enrolment patterns, including arrangements where students may appear to be studying multiple full-time courses simultaneously.

๐ŸŽ“ Important for students: Officials have warned that entering a non-genuine study arrangement could put a studentโ€™s current or future visa at risk.

The government says genuine students should receive clear advice and quality educationโ€”not arrangements designed primarily for commercial benefit.
