How on earth is it already September?

We are officially in the final stretch of 2026, and we want to know exactly what our community is working on. When you are running a business, it is incredibly easy to lose track of time. You blink, and suddenly you only have four months left to hit the goals you set way back in January.

We are currently mapping out our own priorities for the rest of the year, and it got us thinking about all of you. Are you pushing hard to launch something new before Christmas, or are you just trying to get your internal systems organised so you can actually take a week off this summer?

Tell us what your biggest focus is for the rest of the year in the comments. We would love to hear what you are all working on right now!

Getting a notification at two in the morning saying your entire page is about to be shut down is a genuinely terrifying experience.

Lately, so many local clients have been contacting us in an absolute panic because they received a message just like this. The scammers are getting clever, using names like Meta Business Suite, Meta Ads, Help Centre, or Meta Security to make it look incredibly official.

Let us clear this up right now. Your business page has not been disabled.

Facebook will never jump into your Messenger inbox to tell you they are taking down your account. They absolutely will not send you a random link asking you to log in and fix the issue quickly. These messages are designed to scare you into making a mistake so they can steal your details and hijack your page.

Please, do not click on any links in these suspicious messages. Just report them, mark them as spam, and get on with your day. If you are ever unsure about a message you receive, please reach out to our team at [email protected] and we will help you sort it out.

Putting all your marketing eggs into one social media basket is incredibly risky.

We speak to so many business owners who rely entirely on their social feeds to get new customers. While having a strong page is great, depending solely on it actually limits your success.

Imagine your marketing strategy is like a car. A car needs an engine, wheels, a steering wheel, and fuel to actually get you where you want to go. If you just focus on polishing the wheels but ignore the engine, you are going to be stuck in the driveway one day. That is exactly what happens when you only use one platform. The parts have to work together, not against each other.

We help our clients build strategies that actually run smoothly by combining social media with other strategies that can reach the people who aren't following you or don't use social media.

You just have to figure out how your specific customers like to be spoken to, and then give them exactly what they need. Stop relying on one single app to do all the heavy lifting!

That familiar panic of staring at a blank screen is something every single business owner knows entirely too well.

There comes a point where it feels like your well of creative ideas has run completely bone dry. You know you need to keep your online presence active, but you also do not want to post random filler just for the sake of it. Trying too hard to manufacture engagement is exhausting, and your local community can always spot when a post feels forced.

When you hit that wall, the absolute best thing you can do is stop trying to guess what people want to read. Instead, you need to do a little bit of listening.

There are fantastic ways to find out exactly what your community is actually talking about right now. We love using a free tool called Answer the Public to see what questions people are searching for online.

It is also incredibly helpful to just spend ten minutes reading through the local Facebook groups you are already part of. You will immediately spot the exact problems people are facing and the solutions they are desperately looking for.

Staying relevant is the single most important part of keeping your audience engaged. The next time you run out of things to say, take a step back and let your customers give you the actual answers.

We know you have that list of customer emails hidden in a file somewhere, but be honest, when was the last time you actually used it?

Sending a quick update every six months is not really engaging, and your customer list is practically a goldmine of potential right here in our community. If you are not keeping in touch with your clients and prospects, someone else in Perth definitely will. You cannot afford to let your audience drift away.

So, how do you actually nurture that list without it becoming a huge chore? It is simpler than you think. Start by segmenting your list. Local customers have different needs, so tailor your messages to them. Personalise your content so they know you are talking directly to them.

Always make sure you are providing real value, think tips or exclusive local offers, not just a standard sales pitch. Most importantly, be consistent with your schedule. That list is your biggest tool for growing your business; you just need to start using it.

You cannot do it all yourself, and honestly, you should not even try.

One of the absolute biggest shifts you can make as a small business owner is changing just one word in your daily vocabulary. You need to stop asking "how" and start asking "who."

When you first open your doors, you try to do everything yourself to save money. But you cannot be an expert at everything. If you keep trying to do the marketing, the accounts, and the actual customer work, you are going to burn out quickly.

Acknowledging what you are not good at is the first real step to actually growing your business. You have to start looking outside yourself and finding the right people to help you carry the load.

Outsourcing is definitely not a dirty word. Getting a professional to handle the tasks you hate is the secret to getting your weekends back. But you cannot just hire the absolute cheapest person you find online.

Like any relationship, bringing someone into your business has to be built on solid ground. You need someone who actually shares your values and understands your long term goals. You will always find a cheaper option out there, but how much is that cheap option really going to cost you when things go wrong? Find the right people, trust them to do their job, and focus on what you actually do best.

It is a tough pill to swallow, but you are definitely not your own best customer.

It is really hard to accept, especially when you built your business to solve a problem you personally had. But being the business owner makes it impossible to view your service from a regular customer’s perspective. That bias is probably hurting your marketing more than you realise.

Local business owners often get stuck in one of two traps. They either try to market to absolutely everyone, which means their message just gets lost in the noise. Or, they get way too specific, focusing on crazy tiny details that restrict their audience to almost nothing. Neither of these approaches works for long term growth.

To fix this, you have to get to know the actual people in our community who need your help. Look at their age, where they live, what they struggle with daily, and what they actually care about. Use simple surveys or just look at your own booking data to get to know your real audience. Remember, recognising you are not the customer is the key to actually connecting with the people who are.

Have you ever hired an expert, only to realise they might be a bit behind the times?

The internet changes incredibly fast. So, if you are talking to someone about your online strategy and they keep mentioning "Google My Business" or telling you to post more on "Twitter," you should consider it a giant red flag.

Google changed the name to Google Business Profile years ago. Twitter has been X for a very long time now. It might seem like a tiny detail to get hung up on, but it actually reveals a whole lot about how they work. If they have not bothered to update the basic names of the platforms they supposedly work on every single day, they definitely have not updated their marketing strategies.

You work way too hard for your money to spend it on advice from five years ago. Make sure the people you trust to grow your local business are actually keeping up with the times!
