Tamar Ridge Winery is on the western bank of the picturesque Tamar River just north of Launceston. The full range of Tamar Ridge wines and Pirie sparkling can be tasted at the cellar door as well as a range of the Devil’s Corner wines. Our informative and friendly staff will guide you through the range of wines. Plus there is usually the odd 'hidden treasure' - wines restricted to Cellar Door and not generally available. Guests can picnic on the lawn or enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the Tamar River. Platters featuring Tasmanian cheeses and locally made terrines are available for purchase. The cellar door can cater for large groups, by prior arrangement. House Rules

What makes a vineyard block worthy of its own w**e?

Even within the same vineyard, subtle differences in soil, aspect and microclimate can influence the character of the fruit.

At Tamar Ridge, our Kayena and Rosevears vineyards are home to individual blocks that offer distinctive expressions of their growing sites.

When a particular block shows the qualities we're looking for, its fruit may be selected for a Single Block w**e, allowing the character of that site to take centre stage.

It's a considered approach to w**emaking, grounded in our understanding of the Tamar Valley.

Discover the art of blending Pinot Noir.

Every Tamar Ridge w**e is shaped by a series of considered decisions, from the vineyard through to the final blend.

Our Pinot Noir Blending Experience at our Cellar Door offers an opportunity to explore that process firsthand.

Taste individual w**e components, learn how vineyard site, clone and structure influence the finished w**e, and put that knowledge into practice as you create your own blend.

A hands-on introduction to the craft behind Tasmanian Pinot Noir.

Understanding w**e begins with knowing what to look for.

Length, dryness, body and structure are terms you'll often encounter in a tasting, but each describes a different characteristic of the w**e.

Understanding these qualities can help you identify what you enjoy, recognise differences between w**es and become more confident in your own palate.

We've brought together four useful terms and what they mean in the glass.

Pinot Noir has a place at the spring table.

As the days grow longer and seasonal produce changes, the w**es we reach for often change too.

Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir is a considered match for dishes such as roast chicken with spring vegetables, mushroom and pea risotto, or duck with rhubarb.

Its natural acidity helps balance richer flavours, while its structure allows more delicate ingredients to remain the focus.

A little thought about what's on the plate can make choosing the w**e that much easier.

Same vineyard. Different year. What changes in the glass?

Even when a w**e comes from the same vineyard, each vintage will have its own character.

The conditions of a growing season influence everything from fruit development to flavour and structure. Understanding those differences is an important part of the w**emaking process.

At Tamar Ridge, Head W**emaker Tom Wallace and his team draw on their knowledge of our Tamar Valley vineyards to make considered decisions each year.

Explore what makes every vintage distinct, and how those differences find their way into the glass.
