Our hearts go out to every community right now.
Victoria is facing one of the most severe bushfire threats we’ve seen in years — multiple large fires are burning across the state, with catastrophic and extreme fire danger warnings in place. Emergency warnings are active, and many towns have already been told it’s too late to evacuate and to shelter in place.
To the CFA, emergency services, aerial crews, interstate support teams, wildlife carers and every volunteer — thank you.
Your courage and sacrifice in these conditions — heat, dry fuels, winds and unpredictable fire behaviour — are nothing short of heroic.
This fire season is being compared to some of the worst in our history. The Black Saturday bushfires burned nearly 1.1 million acres, and this year’s conditions are pushing us toward the worst fire danger since Black Summer.
Please remember — it is never worth risking your life.
If you can safely grab your family and your pets, do so and leave.
Homes and belongings can be replaced. Lives cannot.
Check in on your neighbours, prepare animals, and follow all emergency advice and warnings.
Stay safe, Victoria. 🤍
