This weekend in Stanley, Tasmania we are celebrating 200 years of European settlement. However according to Jonathan Swift in Gulliver's Travels, published 300 years ago, our part of the world was inhabited by very small people in 1699. Here, not far from Stanley, Gulliver found himself tied and pegged to the ground by the people of Lilliput. 😊

Handwritten recipe books are the ultimate snippet of family history. Tried and true recipes written in different hands through generations.
This one has page damage and at some time eight of its pages have been snipped out. Perhaps they were blank and someone needed paper? Or were the recipes on them stolen? We'll never know....
I needed to snip out the old sewing from the page sections to remove the page stubs and brush out loose alien material from the page folds and the remnant spine material.
Then each page gets a dry clean with eraser crumbs and we're ready to mend pages!

Turning endcaps is one of my favourite steps in re-backing. I wanted them to look like they've been sitting on a shelf for years.
