There's something slightly ridiculous about saying you want to save people $1 billion. It's such a big number that it's hard to picture what it actually looks like.

For us, it looks much smaller.

It looks like a homeowner opening a power bill that's lower than it used to be. It looks like a business keeping more of its operating budget for something other than electricity. And it looks like people getting more value from energy they're generating at their own property.

That's the thinking behind our goal to help customers save $1 billion on their energy bills by 2034.

We know we won't get there because of one enormous project. We'll get there by understanding how people actually use energy, recommending systems that make sense and helping customers get more from them after installation.

Which makes $1 billion feel a lot less like a corporate target and a lot more like what it should be - a whole lot of power bills moving in the right direction.

A bigger battery doesn’t automatically mean better savings.

The right capacity depends on how much power your household uses, when you use it and what electricity costs during peak periods.

Before choosing a battery for your Australian home, it’s worth understanding how your energy habits and time-of-use tariff fit together.

Big energy decisions feel a lot easier when you know what’s happening every step of the way. ☀️

Good communication can make the whole experience feel simpler. That means answering questions, explaining the system clearly and keeping customers informed along the way.

We’re proud to see that reflected in the words of these Think Renewable customers.

The real question isn't how much solar you generate. It's what happens to the energy you don't use.

Feed-in tariffs have changed significantly over the years, prompting homeowners to take a closer look at the value of the energy they're exporting to the grid.

Battery storage offers a different way to think about solar, helping households store excess generation for use when demand is highest and making better use of the energy they're already producing.

For some homes, the opportunity isn't generating more solar.

It's keeping more of it.

Solar battery monitoring apps don't receive much attention. Perhaps they should.

Most discussions around batteries focus on capacity, warranties and savings.

What often gets overlooked is the monitoring app.

The data it provides can help homeowners understand how their battery is performing, track energy usage, identify potential issues and make more informed decisions about how they use and store energy.

The battery stores the energy.

The insights help you maximise its value.

One of the stranger things about the solar industry is how much attention gets placed on installation day.

It's important, of course, but that's a bit like judging a car purely on the day it leaves the dealership.

The real value comes from what happens afterwards. People start paying attention to when they're using power and how much energy their system is producing.

That's why good solar companies don't disappear once the paperwork is signed. We think support should last longer than the installation itself.

Buying solar isn't really the finish line. It's the beginning of a different relationship with your energy.

We're not saying we are great; our customers are.

Something we hear regularly in customer reviews has nothing to do with solar production. It's words like tidy, professional, or respectful.

Which might sound small until it's your home.

People remember how they're treated just as much as they remember what was installed. That's why we pay attention to the details.

Anyone can talk about quality. The little things are usually where it shows up.

Most power bills get about 30 seconds of our attention.

We open the email, look at the total, maybe mutter something under our breath, and then move on with our day.

The interesting thing is that while most people think about electricity as a monthly expense, energy companies think about it as a long-term relationship.

A household spending around $300 a month on electricity isn't really making a $300 decision. They're making a decision that plays out over years.

That's why it's worth stepping back occasionally and looking at the bigger picture.

Not because everyone should rush out and install solar tomorrow, but because major household expenses have a habit of hiding in plain sight when we only look at them one month at a time.

Sometimes the most useful number isn't the one on your next power bill.

It's the one you'll pay over the next decade.
