Burnout in property management is often treated like an individual problem. But more often, it’s an operational problem.

When PMs are managing unrealistic workloads without enough support, pressure builds quickly. And eventually, communication suffers, retention drops, culture declines and performance becomes reactive.

The strongest PM departments look beyond output. They focus on creating environments where teams are properly supported, trained and structured to succeed long term ✨

Today’s podcast recording was one of those conversations that stays with you long after the microphone is switched off.

I had the privilege of speaking with an incredibly inspirational woman who has dedicated so much of her life to caring for her mother living with dementia. It was a powerful reminder of why I am so proud of what we are creating through this podcast.

Dementia is one of the most misunderstood illnesses in our community, and I feel incredibly grateful that we can provide a platform for people to share their stories, create awareness, and help others better understand the realities of living with and alongside this disease.

What struck me most today was the reminder that behind every person facing an illness is often a carer quietly carrying an enormous load. These are the people who put their own lives on hold, sacrifice their time, energy and often their own wellbeing to care for someone they love. They deserve so much more recognition than they receive.

To care for your own mother while navigating the heartbreak of watching her decline is something few people can truly understand unless they have lived it themselves. It takes extraordinary strength, patience, love and resilience.

This, to me, is what courage looks like.

I am so grateful for today's conversation and for the opportunity to share stories like these. They remind us of the power of love, the importance of compassion, and the incredible strength of ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances.

My heart is full tonight. 🤎

This week, we received the heartbreaking news of the passing of

As many of you know, Neale was booked to be our keynote speaker for this year’s National Property Managers Day. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, we will share more in the coming weeks about what this year’s event will now look like.

But what we can say is this…

This has given us even more drive and even more reason to raise much-needed funds for the incredible work being done in the fight against MND.

Neale’s legacy is one of courage, resilience, selflessness and hope. When he could have given up, he chose to fight the beast publicly to help others, knowing the battle would likely not change the outcome for him personally. He used his platform to create awareness, raise millions of dollars, and leave a legacy that will continue helping generations to come.

In true Neale fashion… let’s play on.

This year at National Property Managers Day, we will be holding a charity auction to raise funds for this incredible cause and continue supporting the work that meant so much to him.

If you would like to support the event, sponsor, donate an item or experience for the charity auction, or simply get behind this amazing cause, please let us know in the comments below.

And if you haven’t already, we encourage you to book your team to National Property Managers Day and help us make this year’s event one that truly honours an extraordinary man and the legacy he leaves behind.

As we know, property management can be a high-pressure industry, and this is exactly why collaboration matters.

Some of the best ideas, support and growth come from connecting with people who truly understand the challenges within the industry.

Whether it's sharing knowledge, leaning on peers, learning from others' experiences or simply having conversations with people who get it, collaboration helps create stronger leaders, strong teams and a stronger industry overall.

We asked some of our partners what collaboration means to them, and one thing was clear: property management works better when we work together!

Sometimes agencies don’t realise they’re operating in survival mode… because it’s become the norm. But there are usually signs.

The problem usually isn’t the people. It’s the lack of structure, support and scalable systems behind them. The best PM departments aren’t built around burnout. They’re built around sustainability.

Most principals will spend thousands replacing a property manager who leaves. Very few will spend a fraction of that keeping them.

The numbers don't lie - high turnover, low morale, and inconsistent service all trace back to the same root cause: underinvestment in training and development.

When your team feels equipped, supported, and growing, you're setting them, and your business, up for success.
✅ Retention goes up
✅ Client satisfaction improves
✅ Your reputation strengthens
✅ Your business becomes easier to run

Training isn't a cost, but rather the highest-return investment you can make in your business. At PMP Academy, we give property managers and principals the tools, frameworks, and confidence to perform at their best.
