The front of this home offers something rare: expansive ocean views (that deserve to be celebrated).

Every detail of the master bedroom retreat was designed to frame and complement the horizon. And the green roof and garden were created to give the penthouse a connection to the earth, while still maximising the outlook.

Together with the rear garden and interiors, designed in unison, this property flows as one cohesive experience, encouraging movement between spaces and making the whole property feel complete.

Materials that age ✨ gracefully ✨

Certain limestones, hardwood, concrete, specific types of natural stone... These are the materials we continue to select and use as they age rather than degrade. provided they are specified and installed correctly they don't need to be replaced every ten years, and they earn their footprint over decades of daily use.

And even at the end of their life, timber and stone can often be reused and repurposed.

The discipline of pruning a tree to get a clean trunk with a raised edge has been used for centuries

Here, the Landart maintenance team have trained these trees to create a separation between spaces whilst maintaining visual connection throughout the landscape - essentially creating outdoor rooms. 🍃

Bower House inhabits the threshold between architecture and landscape.

The exterior space was designed to be unique and visually amazing. It enhances the sense of space whilst still feeling embraced within a liminal courtyard, that feels intimate but open.

Every material choice was made for cohesion, durability, and a relaxed family coastal lifestyle. Crafted to feel effortless during large gatherings or quiet mornings alike.

When cooking moves outdoors, the boundary between living and nature dissolves... More than a feature and functional element, an outdoor kitchen becomes a social space.

A narrow block shouldn't be seen as a compromise.

When handled well, narrow blocks can feel expansive and connected to the garden throughout.
To achieve that, we consider: orientation, thinking vertically, bringing the outside in, materials that do more work, and the need to design the landscape alongside the building (never after!)

With this specific project, we replaced the wall with a panel of glass to make both the interior and exterior feel more expansive. And we added a pool to what was a dead space within the landscape to use the block to its full potential. ✨
