What if the school planner looked like it actually belonged to YOUR school? 🎨

Some schools turn their planner cover into a student project — inviting students to submit artwork, photography or designs that represent their school.

It can be a fun way to encourage creativity, build school spirit and give students a little more ownership of something they'll use throughout the year.

And at the end of the year?

That planner may be a pretty great little keepsake, too. ❤️

Being organized DOESN'T mean having perfect handwriting, colour-coded notes and a spotless backpack. 😊

For students, organization can be much simpler.

What do I need to do?
When do I need to do it?
What should I do next?

That's it.

Learning how to answer those three questions helps students take more responsibility for their time and their work.

Organization doesn't have to be perfect.

It just has to work.

Here’s a simple planning skill students can use for almost ANY big assignment:

Start at the due date and work backwards. 📅⬅️

If a project is due Friday, Friday shouldn't be the first time it appears on the radar!

Break it into smaller steps:

Research → First Draft → Review → Finish → Hand It In ✔️

Big projects feel much less overwhelming when students can see the smaller steps along the way.

Planning isn't just remembering when something is due.

It's figuring out how you're going to get there.

In Canada, September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

It is also a day to listen, to learn, to reflect and to recognize the lasting impact of the residential school system.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

For younger students especially, a planner can do more than keep track of homework.

It can help connect the school day with home. 🏫❤️🏠

Upcoming events, reading reminders, forms that need to come back, special classroom days and little things that might otherwise disappear somewhere between the classroom and the kitchen table!

Helping students use one consistent place for those reminders can make communication easier for everyone — students, teachers and families.

An assignment mentioned in class.
A date written on the board.

A handout in a backpack.
An announcement in the hallway.

No wonder things occasionally get missed!

Encouraging students to collect the things THEY need to remember in one place gives them a clearer picture of their day, week and responsibilities.

Sometimes organization isn't about having more information.
