We’re proud to celebrate Jeremiah Sinclair, a member of our Securiguard team at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), who was recently featured in YVR’s SkyTalk for his contributions to airport security and his continued professional growth. 👏

Jeremiah began his journey with Securiguard three years ago as an Access Control Point Guard and has since advanced to the role of Patroller, where he plays an important part in supporting safe and secure airport operations every day.

The feature also highlights Jeremiah’s Musqueam heritage and his connection to the community whose traditional territory YVR is located on, as well as the meaningful partnership between YVR and the Musqueam community.

It’s always rewarding to see our people recognized for the professionalism, dedication, and positive impact they bring to their teams and the communities we serve.

🚨 When seconds matter, teamwork makes all the difference.

While on duty at a liquor store, Mehakdeep and Deepansh were faced with a critical incident when an intoxicated individual entered the property carrying a large knife and began threatening members of the public.

Without hesitation, Mehakdeep contacted police while Deepansh quickly repositioned himself to keep people at a safe distance and prevent others from entering the area. Working together, they calmly de-escalated the situation, convinced the individual to put down the weapon, and safely secured it until police arrived.

Their professionalism, sound judgement, and coordinated response helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation from escalating and ensured everyone nearby remained safe.

For demonstrating exceptional courage and living our purpose of making people feel safe, they were recognized with our iBelieve award!

🚨 When every second counts, vigilance can make all the difference.

While conducting an overnight mobile patrol, Manav noticed thick smoke near one of our Ontario Northland locations. From a safe distance, he quickly identified a large fire in progress, immediately contacted emergency services, and alerted nearby employees working the night shift so they could respond safely.

His calm decision-making, situational awareness, and swift actions helped protect both people and property before the situation could escalate.

For demonstrating exceptional professionalism and living our purpose of making people feel safe, Manav was recognized with our iBelieve Award.

As wildfire smoke continues to impact air quality across many parts of Canada, it's important to take extra steps to protect yourself and those around you.

Poor air quality can affect anyone, but it can be especially challenging for people who work outdoors or have heart or lung conditions.

Here are a few ways to stay safe:
🌫️ Check your local Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) before heading outside
😷 Limit prolonged outdoor activity when air quality is poor
💧 Stay hydrated and take breaks indoors whenever possible
🚪 Keep windows and doors closed to reduce smoke indoors
❤️ Watch for symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, or dizziness, and seek medical attention if symptoms become severe

Looking out for one another starts with taking care of ourselves.

As part of onboarding for our Vancouver Coastal Health team, new Security Professionals complete the Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum (PVPC)—a standardized training program designed to help healthcare workers recognize risks early, de-escalate challenging situations, and respond safely when incidents occur.

This training reinforces the skills needed to communicate effectively, support patients and healthcare staff, and contribute to a safe, respectful environment where quality care can continue uninterrupted.

By investing in comprehensive training from day one, we're ensuring our teams are prepared to respond with confidence, professionalism, and empathy when it matters most.

⭐ Congratulations to Salar, Jai, Anwar, Ali, Advay, Martin, and Dispatcher Jen on receiving an iBelieve Award for their extraordinary teamwork and courage during a life-threatening incident at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

When a contracted window cleaner's safety line failed, leaving the worker suspended from the building, the team responded immediately. Despite being aggressively attacked by falcons while on the roof, they worked together to safely rescue the individual and bring them to safety.

Their quick thinking, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to preserving life exemplify the very best of our people and what it means to make people feel safe.
