💛 OUR NEXT CHAPTER IN HEALTHCARE SECURITY. 💛

As we recognize Healthcare Security & Safety Week, there couldn’t be a better time to share more about Securicare and the healthcare security journey we’ve been building at Securiguard.

Our work in healthcare security has continued to grow over the past couple of years, expanding our presence, strengthening our partnerships, and giving us the opportunity to further develop an approach designed specifically for the unique realities of healthcare environments.

At the heart of Securicare is a simple belief: healthcare security should be human-centred.

Our teams often meet people during stressful, difficult, or vulnerable moments. Safety is always at the core of what we do, but in healthcare, creating a sense of safety also takes patience, empathy, understanding, and compassion.

That belief shapes how we train and prepare our teams, from trauma-informed practices and de-escalation to building the specialized skills needed to support patients, healthcare workers, visitors, and the communities we serve.

As Securicare continues to grow, so does the story behind it.

For Security Professionals, mental health can be especially relevant. Our teams may encounter people experiencing difficult or vulnerable moments, while also navigating the demands and challenges that come with their own roles.

As we reflect today on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we look at how the Orange Shirt Day began with the story of Phyllis Webstad of the Stswecem’c Xgat’tem First Nation.

On her first day at residential school, the new orange shirt her grandmother had lovingly given her was taken away and never returned. Her experience became a powerful symbol of the countless Indigenous children whose identities, cultures, languages, and sense of belonging were stripped from them through the residential school system.

Today, the orange shirt stands as a reminder that Every Child Matters. It calls on all Canadians to learn the truths of our shared history, to listen to Survivors, and to recognize the lasting and intergenerational impacts of residential schools.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It begins with understanding, respect, and meaningful action. As we reflect today, we reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces where people feel safe, valued, heard, and respected. Through remembrance and learning, we can help build a future rooted in truth, dignity, and reconciliation for generations to come.

We’re incredibly proud to announce a new partnership between GCT Global Container Terminals Inc, Westguard Security and the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band) for security services at GCT!

Developed collaboratively over the past year, this partnership represents much more than security services. It brings together three organizations around a shared commitment to safety, meaningful Indigenous economic participation, and building strong, lasting relationships connected to some of Canada’s most important trade infrastructure.

Through the partnership, new opportunities will be created for training, employment and economic participation that support Musqueam community growth and economic development, while Westguard continues to provide dependable, high-quality security services across GCT’s terminals.

The partnership will also be represented visibly across GCT sites, with Westguard vehicles and uniforms featuring new Musqueam branding incorporating artwork created by a local Musqueam artist. Drawing from Musqueam history and culture, the design represents protection, strength, security and community, including inspiration from the Musqueam Runners who historically watched the waters and alerted villages along the Fraser River to those approaching the territory.

For Westguard, this is an important milestone in our long-standing relationship with GCT and an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with Musqueam grounded in respect, collaboration and shared opportunity.
