Both Michele Povill and I have attended On-Camera Audition Classes with Ingrid Torrance for 10 years and she is FABULOUS. We highly recommend studying with her. She has ongoing monthly classes (currently taught on Zoom) and for 2022 she is offering a series of 4 mini-workshops on the business side of acting. **NOW REGISTERING for February ONLINE Audition Classes with Ingrid Torrance**
Keep your skills sharp.
In this four week online Zoom Audition Class, running on Tuesday nights, actors get their assignments e-mailed each week and have a reader in class.
The class combines self-taping technique (how to make them professional and camera friendly) and, achieving amazing performances.
The class runs 6:45pm, February 1, 8, 15 and March 1, 2022 and is limited to 10 participants.
The block of 4 classes is $150.00 plus GST payable via e-transfer by the Sunday before the first class.

Introducing a series of 4 mini workshops offered in 2022 via Zoom by Ingrid Torrance
Cost: $80 per two-hour workshop.
Each workshop covers particular topics and you will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss general or specific ideas.

Workshop 1: Agent and Auditioning - 7:00pm, Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022
The first hour is focused on everything to do with your agent: how to get one/when to replace one, what they should be doing for you/what you should be doing for them. Their responsibilities, communication, expectations, LA/TO/Vancouver (understanding the differences), etc. The second hour is focused on Auditioning; taking risks (when to do it, what it means, and how to apply)/raising stakes, how to make the scene more personal, direction taking, interpretation of direction, clarifying direction and common mistakes made “in the room”. The difference between auditioning for a principal role, recurring role, guest start and series lead. There will also be opportunities to ask questions and discuss.
Workshop 2: Branding and Social Media/ Business of Acting/Contracts (expected date 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2022) Marketing, branding, social media and other related topics. Contracts and negotiations, headshots and resumes. GST/Incorporating and some Business of Acting topics.
Workshop 3: On Set (expected date 7:00pm, Tuesday, Aug.30, 2022)
Etiquette, preparation, blocking, working with others, the politics of, what works in the room might not work on set, hitting marks, props/sound, continuity, call sheet, working scenes out of order, block shooting vs 1 page feature shooting vs 12 page MOW shoots, walk ‘n talks, who’s who and why you should/shouldn’t bother them, ‘business’ for on set roles, terminology etc.
Workshop 4: Commercial Auditions (expected date 7:00pm, Sunday, Nov.6, 2022) Slating, telling a story for SOC, wardrobe, props and other. Performance, improv, creating relationship in auditions, spokesperson spots, know your product, choice of when to say no both to the spot in general and also the audition itself i.e. regional vs national. We will also touch on negotiations and out of town work.
