Photos with your kids can feel like a lot, I’ve been there with my own kids 😅
But here are some things I’ve learned throughout the years that make the experience so much more enjoyable (and the photos more magical)
• If you feel yourself getting frustrated during a session, just get silly with your kids. I know that’s hard to push through, but make a joke, play a game, twirl them around. I promise that redirection will get them smiling and it will feel so much better.
• I always start with any desired posed photos first. If you’d really love to have a smiling photo of your family, we try that photo immediately when we get the session rolling. That way once we have what we need we can let the kids ‘unravel’ and focus on candid, natural moments
• Let the kids guide us - if they want to run, let them run. There’s magic in candids, and I will always do my best to redirect in a fun, interactive way. Instead of letting your kiddo book it towards the road, I’ll try to get them to run to your arms 😅
• release expectations - as a professional photographer it’s my job to capture the realness of your family. I’ve done this a few times 😉, majority of the time we get lots of beautiful photos regardless of morale, so let’s have some fun!
