Construction update from Revelstoke, BC.

This ~10,000 sq. ft. residence showcases what a hybrid timber-and-steel approach can achieve. The custom metal components throughout this home are not purely structural, they are a deliberate part of the design language, contributing to the aesthetic of the space as much as to its integrity.

When timber and steel are detailed to work together from the start, the result is a structure where the two materials complement rather than compete.

We’re Hiring a Wall Framer/ Timber Framer!

We are looking for someone to help us produce world-class prefabricated high-performance wall panels & beautiful large timber frames. Who will execute instructions as per the drawings and shop traveller for all pre-fabrication and timber frame projects; organize the flow of materials in the most efficient manner for current and upcoming projects; and finish timber connection details with hand and power tools, along with other responsibilities.

Qualifications: Must have 3-5 years of carpentry framing experience; must be experienced and knowledgeable in general building practices and the National Building Code; must be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision and have a complete understanding of the production flow and product completion.

Pay: $32-$38

As the Production Administrator, you will facilitate production floor administrative tasks and receiving activities to ensure accurate information flow and timely operations. Data entry from approved shop sign-offs and inventory management, shipping documentation, and quality inspections, among other responsibilities.

Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience and strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. High school diploma/ GED or higher.

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to join the celebration of a project that means a great deal to our community and to our industry.

The Golden Pedestrian Bridge turned 25 this year. At 46 metres across, it remains the longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada. What makes it special is not just the scale, 72,000 feet of Douglas fir and a superstructure weighing approximately 210,000 lbs, but the story behind it. In 2001, over 100 members of the Timber Framers Guild traveled from across Canada, the United States, and Europe to raise it together.

Canadian Timberframes was proud to be part of that effort. Twenty-five years later, the bridge still stands as a symbol of what this community and this industry can accomplish when it works together.

Happy 25th to a Golden landmark. 🌲
