GreenStep was founded in 2008 to bring change by helping organizations measure, reduce, improve and report on their sustainability performance.

GreenStep provides sustainability consulting, software and certifications, helping businesses go green to reduce their impacts and meet the growing consumer demand for responsible business. GreenStep was founded in 2008 to help small to medium sized enterprises reduce their environmental impacts and create a sustainability strategy for the future. To date, we have worked with over 2600 businesses and organizations within several sectors, including private, public, non-profit and academic institutions; in a variety of industries such as tourism and hospitality, retail, professional services and manufacturing; and with organizations of all sizes, from those with less than 5 employees to those with more than 2,000. We practice what we preach. GreenStep is a Certified B Corporation, we’re powered by 100% renewable energy, and after reducing as much as possible, we measure and then offset our remaining carbon emissions.

Top Travel Montenegro is a Podgorica-based tour operator that plans custom trips across Montenegro and the wider Balkans, pointing travellers toward lesser-known parts of the region and keeping the experiences local.

Those routes are built around small local businesses, from guides and family-run accommodations to vineyards, artisans and food producers. At Level 4 of GreenStep's Sustainable Tourism Pathway, the agency is focused on making responsible travel the obvious choice rather than a niche one.

L'Hôtel Monville a obtenu la certification Or dans le cadre du programme de certification en tourisme durable de GreenStep l'an dernier.

Depuis, l'hôtel a intégré cette démarche dans presque tous ses services, du hall d'entrée à la buanderie, que ce soit du côté des déchets, de l'énergie ou de la formation du personnel. Il a aussi renforcé ses liens avec la communauté grâce à des partenariats avec La rue des Femmes, Chez Doris, CURE Foundation et la Fondation Opération Père Noël, et plusieurs autres.

Kelowna businesses: free climate action training starts September 23.

We've partnered with the City of Kelowna to deliver a free, three-session Climate Action Program built to help local businesses save money, cut their environmental footprint, and build long-term resilience.
Three one-hour online sessions cover practical steps you can take right away, from lowering energy costs to reducing waste and sourcing locally. Along the way, you'll work through a sustainability goal for your own business with expert guidance.

You'll finish with a personalized climate action plan, one-on-one coaching, a certificate of completion, and recognition as a climate leader in the community.

Two cohorts this fall:

Thursdays, starting October 29

Tourism Prince George has earned Bronze certification through GreenStep's Sustainable Tourism Destination program.

The certification followed a year of collaboration, evaluation, evidence gathering and an audit, measuring the destination's performance across four pillars: environmental, socio-economic, natural and cultural, and destination management.

Pointhouse Suites on Sargeant Bay is a small, independently owned waterfront bed and breakfast on BC's Sunshine Coast. Over the past two years, owners Heather and Bob Newman have cut energy use by 40% through a heat pump upgrade, expanded smart automation across the property, moved guest communications fully online, and completed a landscape spa built around the natural topography of the land, all while actively supporting the Sargeant Bay Society's coastal stewardship work.

Booking.com and Trip.com are already using GSTC Certification status to determine how hotel properties get boosted in search results. Major cruise lines and Amex Global Business Travel have set supplier targets for it. New regulations in Canada and the EU now require proof that sustainability claims hold up.

Big news: GreenStep is now the first North American-based organization to offer GSTC Certification for hotels, accommodations and tour operators in partnership with RoyalCert, a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body.

GreenStep is the only Canadian GSTC-Recognized Standard Owner to offer GSTC Certification through its own Canadian-made standard.
