Students head to class this week!

Ability gets them into the classroom. Strategy often determines what they walk out with. I want to show students ways to approach their schoolwork more strategically. These are the same skills that transfer to being dependable at work.

Five ways to approach schoolwork more strategically, on The Blog: https://broadstrategy.ca/blog/be-strategic-about-your-education

Tag someone that you know is heading to post-sending for education this year!

Organizations rarely struggle because of a lack of effort.

They struggle when direction becomes unclear, when priorities begin to compete, and when decisions turn reactive.

Broad Strategy was built on that conviction. It is grounded in the understanding that when vision is clear, structure is sound, and alignment is present, organizations move forward with focus and momentum.

Sustained progress begins here.

Conflict is a strong word that can elicit complicated memories and emotions.

Tomorrow I'll share my newest blog "Let's Start Normalizing Conflict”.
I’ll explain why conflict is often where alignment gets built and what it costs strategic plans when healthy conflict is not given space to surface.

Finding local events like these shouldn't mean scrolling through Facebook Events or hoping the right post happens to cross your feed.

That's why I created the Broad directories. One place to discover business, professional, charity and nonprofit events happening across Atlantic Canada.

➝ The Broad Network for networking, workshops, conferences and professional development.

➝ Broad Impact for fundraisers, charity and nonprofit events, galas, and opportunities to support causes in our communities.

Each Friday, I'll highlight new and upcoming events from both directories.

➝ Browse what's happening or submit an event by visiting the Broad Strategy Events Page.

Know an organization with an upcoming event? Send them our way.
Help build this community resource by sharing it with your network.

A big thank you to Freedom Coffee for the incredible service at Meetings That Move Work Forward!

Their team was friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive from start to finish. And one detail stood out: they baked homemade cookies right on site. Fresh coffee and freshly baked cookies during a workshop is a pretty hard combination to beat.

More importantly, there is a bigger mission behind Freedom Coffee.

Freedom Coffee is a local nonprofit working to combat human trafficking through awareness, prevention, partnerships, and support for those doing frontline work.

So when you support Freedom Coffee, you're supporting much more than great coffee.

If you're planning a conference, workshop, staff meeting, or community event, I highly recommend considering Freedom Coffee for your coffee service. They made that part of our event completely seamless and your event can help support an important mission at the same time.

You can also support their work directly and watch for their upcoming events and initiatives.

Thank you to the entire Freedom Coffee team for taking such great care of us and for the important work you do in our community!

Support freedom. Drink coffee.

Could everyone on your team name your top three priorities and put them in the same order?

Leadership teams often feel more aligned than the people they lead.

The Strategic Readiness Reflection is a short set of questions covering four areas: direction and clarity, structure and governance, alignment and culture, and measurement and financial rigour.

It will take about three minutes, and you’ll see where your organization is standing firm and where it’s drifting.

Find it now on the Resources page at https://broadstrategy.ca/resources

You haven’t taken a real vacation in two years. Not because you don’t want to, but because you’re sure it all falls apart the moment you step away, because every decision routes through you.

That isn’t a work ethic problem. It’s a structure problem. When the whole plan lives in your head, the business can’t run without you.

The strategic maps we build make your thinking visible, so your team can act on it instead of waiting for you.

Let’s chat about building a business that doesn’t need you in every room.

Earle Ali and I want to thank everyone who came out to Meetings That Move Work Forward last night!

You gave us a full evening of your time and your candour, and we appreciate the open conversation that ran through the workshop.

What mattered most to us is that people left with specific things they intend to do differently. Here is what participants wrote on the whiteboards at the end of the
session, answering the question "What Landed?"

• Fewer people in the meeting is beneficial.
• Senior voice speaks last, because it lowers the pressure to agree and makes
honest discussion possible.
• Have everyone write their thoughts down first, so the first opinion doesn't anchor
the discussion.
• Set norms, then model them.
• Openly assign someone the devil's advocate role

That is the outcome we were after: decisions about what to change in the next meeting you run.

Thank you to Loft 331 WorkStudio for providing a space that made the evening comfortable, to freedomcoffee.ca for looking after everyone's refreshment needs, and to Ron Broad for the tech and video support.

An enjoyable evening, and great people to spend it with!
