BC PNP 2026: PRIORITY OCCUPATIONS, ELIGIBILITY & EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has introduced significant changes to focus on skilled workers who can contribute to the province’s economic growth and address critical labour shortages.

🎯 1. THREE KEY BC PNP PRIORITIES
🩺 CARE — Healthcare, Childcare, Education & Veterinary Services
Priority occupations include:
✅ Registered Nurses — NOC 31301
✅ Physicians — NOC 31100, 31101, 31102
✅ Physiotherapists — NOC 31202
✅ Nurse Aides and Health Care Assistants — NOC 33102
✅ Social Workers — NOC 41300
✅ Early Childhood Educators — NOC 42202
✅ French-speaking Teachers — NOC 41220, 41221
✅ Veterinarians — NOC 31103
✅ Veterinary Technicians — NOC 32104
📌 Important: Professional licensing and registration requirements apply. Targeted childcare invitations require qualifying ECE certification, while NOC 33102 candidates must meet B.C. Care Aide Registry requirements.
🏗️ BUILD — Construction & Skilled Trades
British Columbia is prioritizing certified workers and registered apprentices in nine construction occupations, including:
✅ Carpenters — NOC 72310
✅ Electricians — NOC 72200, 72201
✅ Plumbers — NOC 72300
✅ Welders — NOC 72106
✅ Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics — NOC 72401
✅ Steamfitters/Pipefitters — NOC 72301
✅ Construction Millwrights — NOC 72400
✅ HVAC Mechanics — NOC 72402
📌 Applicants seeking targeted construction invitations generally need a corresponding SkilledTradesBC trade certificate or registered apprenticeship.
💡 INNOVATE — HIGH ECONOMIC IMPACT
The BC PNP also prioritizes highly qualified professionals, specialists, and other candidates who can make significant economic contributions to British Columbia.
Selection may consider salary, occupation, registration score, qualifications, and other economic factors.
📊 2. RECENT BC PNP INVITATIONS
In the October 8, 2026 selection:
• Childcare: 86 invitations — minimum score 99
• Healthcare: 82 invitations — minimum score 76
• Construction: 115 invitations — minimum score 94
• Veterinary care: Fewer than 5 invitations — minimum score 86
The September 24, 2026 High Economic Impact selection included candidates meeting a minimum wage of $52/hour and $105,000 annually in eligible TEER 0–3 occupations, or a minimum registration score of 131.
⚠️ These are historical selection results, not guaranteed requirements for future invitations.
🚫 3. OCCUPATIONS THAT ARE NO LONGER ELIGIBLE
Certain occupations are excluded from BC PNP Skills Immigration applications submitted after June 13, 2026, including:
❌ Administrative Officers — NOC 13100
❌ Administrative Assistants — NOC 13110
❌ Accounting Technicians and Bookkeepers — NOC 12200
❌ Retail Sales Supervisors — NOC 62010
❌ Food Service Supervisors — NOC 62020
Other administrative, sales, and religious occupations are also excluded under the current program rules.
🏢 4. REQUIREMENTS FOR B.C. EMPLOYERS
Employers supporting a BC PNP application generally must:
✔️ Have an established and active business in British Columbia
✔️ Meet applicable business operating history and staffing requirements
✔️ Offer eligible full-time employment, generally on a permanent basis
✔️ Provide wages consistent with applicable industry standards
✔️ Comply with employment and immigration requirements
✔️ Provide the required Employer Declaration and supporting documentation
A federal LMIA is not required solely to support a BC PNP nomination application.
📌 5. IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR APPLICANTS
• Meeting minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an invitation or nomination.
• The Skilled Worker stream generally requires at least two years of qualifying full-time equivalent work experience.
• The Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream has closed.
• The previously proposed new international graduate streams will not be launched.
• Eligible candidates may also qualify for the Express Entry BC option if they meet federal Express Entry requirements.
