A good outdoor space isn’t always about how much room you have. It’s about what you do with it.
In this design, our Faenza fully tiled spa is installed above ground and becomes part of the architecture around it. Rather than simply placing a spa in the middle of the patio, the surrounding structure turns into bar seating on one side, steps on the other, and a natural place for people to gather around the water.
The fireplace was positioned close to the spa for the same reason. Fire and water give the space two completely different moods, especially in the evening, while the warm wood, stone and concrete help tie everything back to the home.
Inside the spa is our best-selling Bali ceramic tile. Its soft blue-green tone works beautifully here because it picks up the colours of the landscape during the day and takes on a completely different character once the water is lit at night.
What’s interesting is that this is our standard Faenza, measuring 10’ x 7’ 5” x 2’ 10”. It hasn’t been custom-built for this space. The design was created around a fully tiled, prefabricated spa and shows how much can be done with a standard unit when it’s thoughtfully incorporated into the architecture.
For homeowners and designers considering a fully tiled spa, this is a good example of why placement matters just as much as the spa itself.
Sometimes the best result comes from treating the water as part of the space from the very beginning.
