The older I get, the less interested I am in trying to do things alone.

Some of the best ideas I've had started with a conversation.
Some of the hardest challenges became easier because someone else was willing to help.
And some of the most meaningful parts of my career have come from getting to build alongside other people.

Collaboration doesn't just make the work better.
It makes the journey a whole lot more fun.

For a long time, I thought being respected in business meant becoming a more polished version of myself.

More confident.
More strategic.
More composed.
More “professional.”

So every day I straightened my naturally curly hair because it didn’t feel polished enough.
I hid how sensitive I was because I thought emotions would make me look weak.
And over time, I became very good at managing how I was perceived.

What I didn’t realize then was how exhausting it is to constantly edit yourself.

What’s interesting is that we’re seeing a real shift right now in business and online. People are becoming less drawn to perfection and overly polished branding… and more drawn to people who feel real, grounded, and human.

Because trust isn’t built through polished traits alone.
It’s built when people feel like they actually know who you are.

I still care deeply about professionalism.
I still believe leadership requires confidence, preparation, and presence.
But I’ve also learned that the parts of me I once tried to hide — my sensitivity, creativity, curiosity, even my humanity — are not weaknesses to overcome.

They’re part of what allows me to connect, lead, and build trust the way I do.

And honestly, life feels a lot easier when you stop trying to fit yourself into a box all the time.

Over-explaining so no one misunderstands you.
Softening your opinions so no one pushes back.
Filling every silence because sitting in it feels too vulnerable.

What you need to understand is that none of this is communication. It's managing perceptions.

Stop trying to control how people receive you and start focusing on being clear about who you actually are.

I've spent much of my life believing that faster was better.
More effort.
More action.
More pushing.

What I've learned is that not every season requires the same pace.

Sometimes slowing down isn't about doing less.
It's about creating enough space to think clearly, make better decisions, and focus your energy on what matters most.

And sometimes that ends up moving you further than rushing ever could.
