On 31 May, Remembering Srebrenica and Bosnia UK Network commemorated National White Armband Day at Bosnia House in Birmingham.

The day marks the events of 31 May 1992, when non-Serb civilians in Prijedor, Bosnia, were forced to wear white armbands before many faced persecution, detention, and violence. It serves as a reminder of the importance of challenging prejudice and upholding human rights and dignity for all.

The event featured a keynote address from Alison Anderson MBE, Chair of the Remembering Srebrenica Scottish Board of Ambassadors. Alison shared a personal reflection on her work in Bosnia during the 1990s as a forensic professional, helping gather evidence from mass graves that later supported the prosecution of war criminals.

The commemoration highlighted the importance of remembrance, education, and speaking out against injustice.

Throughout his career, Mervyn has helped organisations navigate complex operational challenges, cyber incidents, severe weather events, and large-scale disruptions while building resilience capabilities that extend beyond compliance. His experience spans telecommunications, technology, and public transport, where he has led resilience strategies, crisis response initiatives, governance programmes, and operational improvement efforts across diverse and complex environments.

Combining strategic insight with hands-on crisis leadership, Mervyn is passionate about helping organisations strengthen preparedness, continuity, and long-term resilience.

Over the years, Tress supported countless contact centre responses with dedication, professionalism, kindness, and calm under pressure. Her contribution to our clients, colleagues, and the wider GoCrisis team has been deeply valued, and she will always remain a special part of the GoCrisis story.
