The early Somaliland stamps were overprinted stamps on India. Gibbons list a number of overprint varieties but there are some nice constant varieties they don't list. Here are two such varieties on the QV 2r and 3r. They both have a short first 'L' and a distorted 'N'.
These, and several others, are being described ready for the first County Auctions sale of 2024.

The 1912 Royal Cypher controls form a fascinating study. They indicate the year in which the sheets were printed. As with most collecting areas, there are expensive rarities, but most controls are in a reasonable price range. Many sold in County Auctions July sale but there are still a few still available in list 280 at www.stampauctions.co.uk.
These also come in a vast range of shades - another popular area.
