Life choices!

Members chose to attend our meetings but breakfast choice depends on preference.

Our member spotlight today was Taylor who enlightened us with his own history and that of WHN. Mark went from Life Guard to Legal Professional and works as a divorce solicitor at WHN specialising in Family Law and is on the Law Society Children Panel. In 1791 Samuel Woodcock started the business with one office and today after various changes and mergers WHN has 9 offices around Lancashire.

We also welcomed new member Elwood to the group.

One of the topics raised at today’s meeting was business slogans and we would love you to add your slogan in the comments. Mel started this off with “Making good businesses look as good on line as they actually are”. Learn the law with Mark covered the subject of “double jeopardy” including the changes and exceptions. 59% of our fund raising target has already been met for the team absail down Peel tower, NW Networking Group is fundraising for Bury Hospice.

Full steam ahead
Member spotlight today was Lee Kenny East Lancashire Railway who provided an interesting insight into our local ELR. Upcoming events include Santa trains and festive dining all travelling along our scenic 12 miles of railway. One problem Lee has is the increasing cost of coal which resulted in him being featured last week on BBC breakfast.

Learn the Law with Mark covered the concept of ‘Easement’ a land law term relating to things like shared drives, pathways and utility companies access.

Photography, charity & treason!

Well we like variety at North West Networking meetings and today was no exception.
Member spotlight was David Close Photography who has been a professional photographer for over 20 years. His visual presentation was absolutely beautiful, with photographs capturing personal expression and emotion in a natural way and he even gave us all some posing tips.
Our World Cup sweepstake winners were 2nd £40 to Mark, 1st £100 to Nina and £100 donation to Bury Hospice. The lovely Nina donated her winnings to Bury Hospice so £200 in total.
Learn the law with Mark explained the concept of Treason, which was punishable by death until 1998.
We also welcomed Tony Hayes - IT Support and Telecoms who substituted for Rob Howell.

Members were ‘on the ball’ today!

The banter was hilarious which helped to lift morale after the England match last night.
Member spotlight today was Lisa Moore from Cosalea. The Walshaw cafe opened in September 2020 as a day time cafe before expanding into an evening venue. Cosalea Brandlesholme started as a cafe bar and is the hub for providing outside catering, ranging from grazing tables to ABBA themed Mediterranean buffets as well as internal catering for Killelea House. Lisa is so proud of her team at Cosalea and explained the name derived from her 3 children; Cora, Leah and Isla.
Learn the law with Mark from WHN covered the term “Probono” within Law firms and the lovely Trish from Hilton House was substitute for Melissa.
