3 signs your team needs support to deal with trauma at work
Trauma doesn’t always look like trauma at work.
Trauma is the lasting impact of experiences that overwhelm our ability to cope, and it can affect individuals, teams and whole communities. It can show up in how people respond to pressure, change, relationships and each other. 1 in 3 people in the UK have experienced trauma so its very likely that people in your teams, networks and clients are dealing with its impact. If your work is crisis or frontline focused then you may have also experienced secondary trauma.
If you think your team might need support here are some signs to take notice,
🔵 People seem on edge and worried most of the time.
🟠 Trust feels fragile and conflict escalates quickly.
🟣 Small problems create big reactions.
Being trauma-aware isn’t about diagnosing people or becoming therapists. It’s about understanding what can sit underneath behaviour and creating ways of working that reduce harm and strengthen safety, trust and connection.
We offer Trauma-Aware Teams training to help teams recognise how trauma shows up at work and develop safer, more supportive and inclusive ways of working.
