Here's what you missed from our roundtable on exporting to Europe!

Last month, we delivered an online session to support UK manufacturing companies in exporting to Europe, in partnership with the UK Department for Business and Trade. It provided UK businesses with practical guidance on entering Europe, highlighting key opportunities and common challenges.

DBT also highlighted the following priority sectors for European exports:
▪️Advanced manufacturing & industrial modernisation
▪️Energy transition manufacturing
▪️Digitised manufacturing & industrial tech
▪️Automotive electrification & advanced components
▪️High-value niches for SMEs

Made in Britain members Spaceslide and Meteor Communications also joined the session to share their experiences of exporting to the region.

J & A Kay Ltd is proud to celebrate its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1946 by Joe and Annie Kay after Joe returned from serving in the Second World War and learning the trade of engraving, the company has grown into one of the leading plastic manufacturers in the North West.

Through generations of dedication and forward-thinking leadership, J & A Kay Ltd has continually evolved to meet the changing demands of the industry.

“Knowing that it all began with my grandfather learning his trade while serving in the Navy makes it even more meaningful. As we look to the future, we’re focused on continuing that legacy, investing in innovation, supporting our customers, and ensuring the business thrives for generations to come.” - Rosie Kay, Company Director and third-generation member of the Kay family

Estarli has launched a new range of flexible e-bike fleet packages designed to help organisations reduce short car and van journeys, support active travel, and make cycling more accessible for staff, customers, and communities.

The new fleet offering covers Estarli’s folding, hybrid, and cargo e-bike ranges, allowing organisations to choose bikes based on real-world use cases rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

“The important thing is flexibility. Some organisations need folding bikes that can be taken on trains or stored easily. Others need hybrid bikes for longer staff journeys, or cargo bikes for tools, deliveries, children, and community projects. Our fleet offer is designed to help organisations build the right setup for how they actually move.” - Oli Francis, Co-Founder

Made in Britain member Dulas joined the ‘Global Deals for British Jobs’ event at Number 10 Downing Street last month, which was attended by around 100 British businesses.

The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, spoke directly with attendees about new legislation designed to support SMEs and strengthen British-based jobs through international trade agreements.

The event also gave manufacturers the opportunity to discuss the pressures currently impacting the sector, particularly focusing on costs for energy-intensive industries and wider trade uncertainty affecting exporters and domestic makers alike.

"We are the only manufacturer of drill rods within the UK, and that is something that we are proud of, but our clients should be made aware of it and be proud of it as well. That’s why we think being part of Made in Britain is excellent."

In the latest episode of UnPacked, we spoke to Iain Bell, General Manager of John Lawrie Tubulars UK. He discusses how, through advanced CNC machining, sustainable practices, and British manufacturing excellence, the company demonstrates that industrial innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
