'Proud To Have Served'

38 years ago today, having just finished 5 years in the Army, I embarked on what would be a 22 year ride of a lifetime, from constable to inspector, many HIGHS, Lows, adventures, fun, sadness, trauma, things that I will remember until my dying day, mostly good, some that continue to haunt me, but most importantly, many friends for life!

Andy Warhol once said "everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame"

Well in the past, I was once interviewed on Radio 4, I've appeared in, and been interviewed on several TV documentaries, but I think the best was yet to come!

For the last two weeks, I was given the honour, and the privilege on behalf of Minerva Elite to represent both them, and the AELTC at Wimbledon as the Court Prtection Team, Team Leader of the Number 1 Court, and probably the most famous tennis 🎾 court in the world, Centre Court, managing a team of 37 close protection operatives!

This was a fast moving, at times extremely challenging, but extremely rewarding experience, working in collaboration with many other moving parts, where effective communication, and cross boundary teamwork was key, with likes of the military, groundstaff, and media, but most importantly supported by my team, who delivered to the highest standards every day in a challenging work environment, watched by millions of people across the world, and not to mention working very long hours in extreme heat!

This was an incredible experience and opportunity, one I'll never forget, and to all the many, many people from across the world saying they'd seen me on the TV lol, your kind comments, along with the many screenshots were greatly received! 🙏🏾🤎

Great to attend the IPSB Frontlier Risks Symposium event in London today, just off Pall Mall with Brandon Shafikhani

Some very relevant, and informative presentations and panel discussions around the Intel, EP current global threats/risks, and the geo political landscape!

As always, good to catch up with global industry leaders from both the EP & Intel communities! 🙏🏾

Last day in the USA 🇺🇸 before heading home tonight back to Blighty 🇬🇧

No rest for the wicked though, so a bit of time in the office this morning doing some work on final proposals for a number of potential tasks in the UK and Europe in the coming months!

Day II on the other side of 'The Pond' and feeling more centred and balanced after a good nights rest!

It was nice in my capacity as Director of Operations to just have time in my office today at our Samaritan Protective Services HQ in Woodbridge in Virginia, although the reality is I don't get to physically spend much time here, I do not underestimate how good it feels to have my own dedicated space when I am! 🙏🏾

All boarded and ready for a week long business trip, with a hint of pleasure in Washington DC, in my capacity of Director of Operations OCONUS for Samaritan Protective Services, working in partnership with Andrew Bellman Global - ABG Risk Ltd !

As a Virgin, Virgin Premium flyer, first impressions Vs BA are looking its like a positive, let's hope the move across to a new carrier proves worth it!

What this reflects is when you have the opportunity to do your job properly as a close protection operative, a full day of advance work and planning in preparation for an upcoming task.

This sadly is a rare thing nowadays, firstly becuase clients often don't want to pay for it, or they just don't understand the value and importance of it for a wide range of reasons, including in very basic, and broad terms, issues including, identifying and mitigating risk to life safety, effective route & venue planning, and alternates, ensuring the best options for maximising client/principal productivity, timings, and so it goes on!!!

You must always be prepared for anything and the unexpected, but it's great to end your working day in the knowledge you have done your utmost to ensure the life safety and productivity of your principal ahead of the mission! 🙏🏾
