In 2012 I was involved in setting up a festival post office called The Postal Posse and have spent most summers since then, building and painting sets and signs for the project in exchange for festival tickets.ย
A few years ago I decided to tackle my poor time keeping head on and spent the first day of the year calculating how much time I actually had for work, passion projects and hobbies. It turned out that The Postal Posse was taking up all my passion project time.ย
On top of that realisation, the project had become frustrating because the work that I was producing wasn't up to the standard I pictured in my head as the workload was always so much bigger than the time I could allocate to it.
So I decided I needed to let it go to make space for new projects, but before I said goodbye for good I wanted to do the signs and branding one last time and treat it like a real paid client.ย
Over the years this project has been where I built confidence, skills and a network of awesome creatives. I missed it a little this year but it has been really great to have more space to make improvements to my own brand.ย
Is it really over, though? I've still got a few ideas for the identity that I didn't get to see through. Maybe I will pick them up again in the future. Only time will tell!ย ๐ฎ
