Every week, the same three PVC banner mistakes land on our press. And every week, we quietly fix them before anyone notices 👇

The first one: body text under 60pt on a 6ft banner. Looks fine on your laptop. Completely unreadable from 3 metres away, which is exactly where people actually stand.

The second: mid-tone colours that look great indoors, then blur into one soggy blob the second the sun comes out.

And the third: logos and text sneaking inside the 10mm bleed line, waiting to get trimmed off like they were never invited.

The good news? None of these are print problems. Sort the file, sharpen the message, and the print takes care of itself.

Every July, same script: bunting up on Saturday, three glorious hours of sun, then a biblical downpour by teatime ⛅

Your banner has to survive the lot.

PVC is the material that just shrugs off the weather. Full-colour print, hemmed edges, brass eyelets, ready to cable-tie to a perimeter fence and forget about until finals day.

Fetes, sports days, cricket clubs, village festivals. If it's pegged to a fence somewhere in Kent this month, chances are it's one of ours 👀

Five summers on the same shopfront window, and the vinyl's still crisp. That's not luck. That's the laminate doing its quiet, thankless job 👌

Here's where the "stickers fade in a season" reputation comes from: cheap paper stock and unlaminated inkjet vinyl. Different product entirely, different physics. It's a bit like blaming all coffee because someone once gave you instant.

Proper UV-laminated vinyl holds its colour outdoors for 5+ years. Rain, blazing sun, van washes, salty coastal air, the lot. It's exactly what we spec for vehicle decals, window branding, outdoor product labels and pavement signage.

So if you've been quietly under-ordering stickers because you assumed they'd look tatty by autumn, do yourself a favour and ask for the laminated vinyl spec next time. Same design, ten times the lifespan.

Your window graphic looked brilliant on the laptop. Out on the pavement, it's a squinting contest 👀

It happens more than you'd think. What looks crisp on a screen 30cm from your face is a completely different beast when someone's reading it from across the street.

Here are the three layout slip-ups we end up fixing the most:

→ Text scaled for screens, not for people walking past at 5-10 metres
→ Every panel crammed with logos, offers and small print until the eye just gives up
→ Graphics running straight into door handles, hinges and frame edges (leave 50mm clear and save yourself the peeling later)

Frosted vinyl, full-colour print, one-way vision film. Whatever the look, we'll spec it so it actually reads from the street and not just from your desk chair.

You paid good money for that roller banner. The placement? That part's free. And it's where most people quietly throw the whole thing away.

Here are three spots that tank your visibility without you even noticing:

🚪 Plonked square in the doorway, so people are reading the edge of it as they squeeze past

⬜ White banner against a white wall. Congratulations, you've invented invisible signage

↩ Facing the back of the stand, catching only the visitors who've already wandered off

The fix for each one is dead simple once you spot the problem. Move it, contrast it, and point it where the footfall actually is.

Stickers that survive the dishwasher, the laptop lid, and that one customer who picks at corners 😅

Kiss-cut, peeled clean, and printed on vinyl that actually holds its colour past week three. None of that fades-to-grey-by-payday nonsense.

Coffee cups, crash helmets, the back of a van that hasn't seen a wash since March. Wherever they end up, they'll stick around longer than most New Year's resolutions.

Your sticker peeled in a week and you're blaming the print? Plot twist: the print did its job. The prep let it down.

We see it all the time. A perfectly good sticker, applied in a hurry, gives up by Friday. Nine times out of ten it's one of these three things.

The surface looked clean but wasn't. A grubby panel feels fine to the eye, but the adhesive disagrees. Sixty seconds with a bit of isopropyl and you're sorted.

It went on too cold. Stick anything below 10°C and the adhesive never properly grips. It's basically clinging on out of politeness.

Wrong finish for the job. Matt laminate beats gloss every time on curves and kit, so pick the right one before you start.

That's about 90 seconds of prep standing between a sticker that lasts a week and one that lasts years. Worth the swipe through for the full breakdown 👉
