The DVSA has shared further guidance regarding MOT testing for electric vans between 3.5-4.25t. In June, eLCVs in this weight category were moved to Class 7 MOT requirements.

The updated guidance clarifies that previous HGV test expiry does not mean another annual test is required.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has provided further guidance around the MOT status displayed for some 4.25-tonne zero-emission vans, following issues raised by BVRLA members around the MOT status.

Drivers can easily notify the DVLA of a wider range of medical conditions online, saving up to 10 days for a turnaround time for a decision.

Overloading was the most common offence amongst lights good vehicle (LGV) drivers in 2024/25, making up around two-thirds of all LGV-related prosecutions – according to data from Tempcover .

Overloading your vehicle can lead to:

🚚5-9%: £100 penalty
🚚10-14%: £200 penalty
🚚15%-29%: £300 penalty
🚚30% or more: mandatory court action

The new digital service has been launched for car and motorcycle drivers to notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency of medical conditions online. The intention is to reduce decision times by up to 10 days versus submitting a paper application.
