So today our residents went to Heathfield farm for lunch 😋 and a few drinks.

They all had a fab day with great food, great drinks and fab company 🥰

Today a few of our ladies and gents enjoyed an afternoon of flower arranging. 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹. 🥰 on Tuesday a few of our ladies went to mecca bingo in Wakefield and then out for lunch at nandos 🍽🍟🍗

Well done to Clare Gibson our night care assistant on receiving employee of the month. Clare was nominated by a few of her colleagues. For her positive energy and attitude and always so bubble. Clare is a good carer and deserves the recognistion. Well done 👏

Super hero day was a blast. More photos to follow. All monies raised today is going to alzheimers.

It was also like doggy day care in the reception this afternoon after a few of our staff brought there fur babies along.

Today we also said farewell to philomeana and good luck with your studies. 🥰🐕🐶🦮🐕‍🦺🐩

Superhero day was a blast. Sammy won 🏆 best dressed Superhero well done to everyone who took part and dressed up. All monies raised will go to ALZHEIMERS.

Today we also said farewell to philomena as she leaves to concentrate on her studies good luck philomena.

Work today was like doggy day care 🐕‍🦺🦮 as a a few of our staff brought there fur babies. They were also a hit with our residents more pics to follow.

Today a few of our residents enjoyed their morning at tropical World 🦋 🐦🐠🐟🐜🕷🦇🐾🐞🪲. They enjoyed a picnic in the gardens followed by ☕️ 🫖 in the cafe.

This afternoon we had fitness dave come and do his chair exercises with a few of the residents 😍

Our sammy what a fantastic write up. Sammy was approached by In2Care Kirklees after they had seen our page.

They said can we speak to the lady who dressed up as a French fry 🤣🤣. Her personality shines throughout our home and also through our page well done Sammy for a fabulous recognition 👏. Please take a read.

Meet Sammy...

"I never expected care to become a job I’d love.”

I started my care role in the community and, to be honest, at first it was just a job. I then decided to move to Ashworth Grange for the structured hours and wage.

But now, I think being a carer is the best job in the world. ❤️

I start work at 7am and check on my residents. I help them to have a shower and get dressed and, while doing so, we chat about how they slept, how they are, what I’ve been up to and their families.

I make them their breakfast and make sure they are OK and comfortable. I work with my colleagues to make sure every resident gets the best care they need.

I enjoy spending time with them and learning about their lives, their families and what they used to do as a job.

I’m known for being heard before I’m seen! I’m quite a loud, bubbly person and they love this about me. One of my residents calls me “Gobby” as a nickname!

You learn each individual’s preferences. Some residents would happily stay in bed all day, so sometimes I have to put my “bossy head” on and encourage them to get up and ready for the day. One of my gentlemen even calls me “Miss Bossy”! We laugh about it and his sister thinks it’s funny too.

Another one of my residents has a slightly less repeatable nickname for me! When I ask her my name, we laugh, she always smiles as she tells me and her daughter does too.

You become a part of their family and, as a carer, I look after them as though they are my own family.

We love dress-up days. When I go in wearing my costume they all love it. They laugh and smile and I like to involve them. I buy little dress-up items and they love putting them on.

We are looking after people who have given everything they can to their jobs and families, and now we are trying to give them a fun, safe and comfortable place to live for the rest of their lives.

You do love them like your own family, and that means there is heartache when they pass away. But there is also joy in knowing you’ve helped them, looked after them and tried to give them the best life you could up until that point.

I really do think being a carer is the best job in the world. ❤️

Today we said farewell to Heather. Whilst she goes of for maternity leave. 😊 👶 👩‍🍼.

Magic Merlin 🎩 🪄 🔮 came this afternoon to entertain our residents, staff and families. There was even audience participation 👏 👏.

The reviews were fab and lots of our residents ended up with balloon animals . We have booked him again for October.
